I have been sorting through some of my engine blocks and noticed a casting number that ends in 440-6
Can anyone tell me what this means?

It how many changes to the mold.
Most blocks have a dash number after the casting number.
it has nothing to do with a six pack induction system.

Did not think it had anything to do with a 6 BBL. Just thought it was unusual.

Yes they are revision numbers. That casting is revision 6 I believe.

The more any casting is used = The more the core shift.
Usually not in a desirable direction particularly in blocks.
Sometimes the shift is useful in the head ports resulting
in a larger port runner CC. But it is a crap shoot as best!
