Where have they all gone? I'm just blowing off steam.

The Superbird is a car I never liked. But would love one in the stable. I would be inclined to pay far less for a clone? Or a Bird that has been stepped on with mix/match? The public really doesn't care. We do! Lol.

I'd much rather have something like this than a stock Superbird or Daytona. It's a shame people choose to "restore" period street machines, pro streets, and race cars back to 100% factory stock...

Seen it too many times. Badass show car/race car --> Factory restoration --> Sit in a garage and never be started or driven ever, except being rolled off a trailer once every 10 years for a indoor show...

There's a green and yellow one around me that pop up time to time for sale both about $125000-130000
Very nice cars
Not sure of pedigree or numbers ... Face book market place Brevard county FL area I know one is Orlando I think second was Daytona beach

Good luck

Just happy to have an RM21. The cost to restore it was high enough and drive it every chance I get. Never really cared for the supper bird was way too long, For my liking. But each to his or her own. Just driver them and have fun.

I guess I didn't think of that. In my mind, I AM serious but I suppose there are a lot of tire kickers out there. Maybe a few phone calls are in order....
I don't know how much you guys pay for phone calls....but if it were me, I wouldn't hesitate to make calls. Heck if I want something in the USA, I pick up the phone. I have been known to spend 30 minutes on hold to Summit. I think nothing of a one hour phone call to friends in USA ....

If you're gonna drop $100k on a car....what's a few bucks on some phone calls.

I spent about 3 -4 hours on the phone buying my A100 12 years ago.....between different people. It was worth it.

Imperial One - Let me preface the following statements by saying they are only my opinion - which in the grand scheme of things, means NOTHING. Please understand I mean no disrespect to anyone involved in the deal of the Sassy Grass Green bird on BAT.... That said:

129k (plus fees, another 5k) is a lot of money. If the car is going to be driven and enjoyed as it is, I suppose 135k is acceptable.

The color of that car is really cool, but it's not correct. That car was originally Apline White. A correct repaint would be 20K (give or take). The original drivetrain for that car has been replaced so it's no longer numbers matching (so I guess the color is irrelevant). Add in to the price shipping and taxes on 135K, and you're up around 165k for a car that has a non numbers matching engine. It's mind boggling how fast the numbers add up.

I'm looking for an original color car with an original drivetrain that is nice, but not perfect. I want to be able to drive the car and not feel guilty about it (or embarrassed). No clones, no tributes. As stated before, nothing wrong with them, they're just not for me.

My search thus far has led me to quite a few cars but so far, I've not been successful. I've been told "Good things come to those who wait". I agree but I've been waiting for a LONG time (decades). I try to do good by people. I help where I can. If a neighbor needs a tree cut down, I'm there. If I pass a disabled vehicle on the road, I stop to see if they need help (even in these times). I believe in karma. I just hope karma believes in me!! I believe there's a car out there waiting for me. I have to keep thinking that way or I'll lose my mind. I'm sure if you talk to some people in my life, they'll tell you my mind was lost years ago!! I can live with that!!

I hope everyone has a GREAT Holiday season. I wish everyone treated each other year round the way they do during the Holiday season.

Good luck. I think worrying about stamped numbers on an engine block that otherwise is identical if you want to drive and enjoy the thing is silly. I’ve never had anyone climb under my car to check. I guess I better take a picture to show them.:)

Patience is key.

And IMO , DONT settle for anything less than the exact car you want.

The moment you do, THE EXACT car will appear. Ive been in that boat far to many times

Although I think the sassy grass car was a decent deal. but not ideal if your after a correct car . I agree with you to pass

Hello All!

A while back, I mentioned that I was throwing my hat into the ring and actively looking to buy a 'bird. I'm not looking for a rotisserie restored car (too much for my budget), but I do want a decent driver and it has to be the real thing (no tributes or clones). I'm chasing a couple local cars but it seems the owners are not overly interested in selling. They SAY they want to sell but then have 'second thoughts". It's driving me crazy. I feel as though I've done all the right things. I've saved the money, done my research and I'm trying to be patient but it isn't producing any results. I want a local car but if I have to get one from out of my area, then so be it (I'm in SE Pa.). I keep seeing the same 10-15 cars being advertised out there and they're stupid numbers. When I send an email about an advertised car, it goes unanswered.

I guess I'm just blowing off steam. I'm frustrated and disappointed. Anyone know of anything for sale out there?

In the meantime, I'm eating, sleeping, breathing, dreaming all things Superbird. I'm pretty sure many of you guys know EXACTLY what I'm going through.....

Thanks for listening!!

Just an update here. So far, nothing. I'm close on one but it depends on another purchase on the sellers end. I'm still looking. I joined the DSAC in hopes of a couple more potential leads. In the meantime, If anyone sees, hears of, or knows about an available car, please let me know!! Thanks!!

One up for auction. Get the details from the Dodge Charger forum:

Car is in pieces and has been in pieces for years. It'll be "fun" putting this one together.

Hi all!

Just wanted to let everyone know that I'm still looking for a car. I was close on a couple but the deals fell through. I'm disappointed but I can't say I blame the owners for changing their minds. It happens. In the meantime, I'm still actively hunting. I have been told to be patient. I'm trying. Help a brother out and let me know if you hear of anything available. Once again, I do not want a $250K car. 440-4/automatic is fine with me but I will consider other options. Please keep me in mind! Thanks!
