62-65 B Body big blocks and the 440 source oil pan

Interestingly I had about the same experience. The shape of that pickup is awful. I did get it to work but there wasn’t a chance in hell the windage tray was going to fit, at least without a lot of butchery.
 
Stock pickup is supposed to touch the pan. The design places the screen at the correct height. Aftermarket with the screen at the lowest point obviously can't touch.

Just remember to pull the pan before removing or installing the motor.

Bottom line: Mopar Performance P5007807AB and Milodon 31580 and the Moroso 20760 noted above are the new oil pans currently available (October 2015) that fit 1962 to 1965 Mopar B body cars.

Assuming the engine is exactly in the stock location.

Thank you for the reminder on that, it’s been awhile since I pulled the stock one apart and even longer since my last build. The 440 block needed a little more threads cleared out the receiving hole for the pickup to make another turn or two, and it ended up going together the way it was intended.

So update on all that for me, stock pan and pickup off the 65 361 is now on the 440 and sitting correctly in the car. 5 quart system is a little light in my opinion on a mild engine so big but it’s how they came stock in many instance so I’ll just treat it nice til a potential future part swap and use the biggest filter I can find.

But for future references and engines that haven’t been built yet thank you for all these relies with links and part numbers, very helpful.

Going back together now, last thing I have to do is figure out how to rebuild this TRW power steering pump, it is leaking bad and it looks like a PITA…

The 440 source 6 qt hemi pan DOES NOT FIT. It doesn't even come close.

Unless its a numbers matching MW i'd trim the K frame. You'll be a whole lot happier if you ever have to pull the pan. Its easy to do. Obviously the one pictured here has quite a bit removed. I can pull the pan in 20 minutes.
