71 Roadrunner stripe on a 72

I thought the roof stripe for the 72 was the same as the 71. I guess it isn't. The bird isn't on the 72 stripe.
Question is, I already bought the 71 Stripe. You think I'll get ridiculed for using a stripe that isn't period correct?
 
If anyone gives you grief over something like that, they would be too **** to be taken seriously.

Kind of funny thing about your stripe, i bought a 72 thinking it was the same as my 71 car, once i found out there different no way i was going with the 72 on a 71 just saying.dont do it.
 
Most people won't know the difference. As stated, it's YOUR car & do what YOU like, screw anybody else. If some know-it-all asshole does ridicule you, introduce your knuckles to his face. ( just kidding on that last comment, I do not condone violence, a mere slap across the head will suffice )
 
Lol! Ok then. I'll stick with the 71 stripes then. I like them better anyhow. It's also a 72 Satellite with a 400, so it's kind of a mutt anyhow.
 
IMHO, 71 was the best of them all for 71-74. That said, I put the 71 stripe on my 73 Satellite but I don't have a picture handy at the moment. I say do it :thumbsup:
 
I prefer the 71 stripe as well and have already bought a white reflective for my 72. The 72 stripe is too 'blocky' and looks like a homemade job to me. Bottom line is that it's your car, make it how YOU want to.
 
The 71 stripe does look better IMO. If it's a Satellite to start with I don't see the harm.

Use the stripe that You like ! I see plenty of 72's with 71' Grilles.
 
AS stated, personal preference rules. However, it is possible to add the bird on top of the stripe. I think I have seen that done and it looked factory.
 
Agreed...Id be happy to put a 72 grille in mine if I could find one for less than the $$$ the rare one sells for.
As for the stripes, I like the 71 also, but do as you like. I did, front and rear.

AROUND HEAR THERE ARE LOTS OF PUREST,
 
Spoilers front and rear are also typical add ons people install that usually arent correct, not to mention wheels, etc. but at least you arent cutting it up.
Unless you have a trailer queen original...do what makes you enjoy it the most and who cares what others think.
