I heard great things about it, but with chems like that....you need to be super careful and mindful of pot metal repair....for good results.

Thanks for sharing. I will read this and consider it. I have contacted Caswell and waiting on a call back from them. want to discuss cost on getting a complete as possible kit and getting started. I have to start somewhere. this thread you posted I don't remember seeing it. looks to produce great results.

If you get a bucket full of parts ready there is a minimum charge to do a lot of parts at a plater. Personally I don't want to learn how to do everything when I put a car together.

this stems from a control standpoint for me for one thing. as well as sick of the shipping, waiting, risk of losing parts. the cost remains to be seen as to whether it will be worth investing or not. I am just looking at possible doing it at home at this point.

Type "C" here also. I just found that some people are better at things than I am. I paid a place to dip/strip my car, a piece of **** to paint it, other people to powder coat, and another company to do the engine. There came a time when I didn't want to learn any new skills. A finished car was my goal.

I use Caswell black oxide on a lot of nuts, bolts etc.. works very well. Do my own zinc plating on many parts also. I don't do any chrome or cad plating but am very impressed with their products. I just spent the weekend doing this very thing.

thank you for the reply, I'm thinking about the copy cad plating kit. yellow Zink and silver dip. the black as well, but the black isn't a plating process but a chem dip process. I'm learning. been going to try this for a few years, but never made time till now.

I bought the Caswell copy cad kit but never used it. I got a little overwhelmed on trying to figure out how to measure the size of little nuts and bolts, clips, etc to get the right amount of annode material in the solution and have it come out right. I do my own parkerizing but that's a lot easier. I ended up sending the stuff for zinc plating to S.F. Restorations with awesome results...

I bought one of the Eastwood plating kits.

Wasnt worth the postage I paid ..let alone product cost

I bought it last spring, mainly for the bright cad and dichromate. Worked excellent. Instructions are very good. Regulators should be ok, you just have to lay out a tank to fit them. You will need a rectifier to generate, but it's relatively low voltage. Initial set up is a little time consuming, but, once your there and see the results, I think you'll find it was worth it, and the resulting satisfaction that you expanded your skill set.

Once or twice a year, Caswell offers 10% off on all of its plating kits so sign up for their emails. I'd love to snag a few myself but that would just prompt Billy to remind me a few hundred more times how I "can't be everything to everybody." LOL!
