Sitting around and my mind is wandering…Is it possible to make one of our cars AWD?

I don’t know anything about anything. I’ve got mostly hand me down tools and I do all my work out of a 10x20 storage shed I can barely move around in. Anything I know about cars I’ve been slowly learning on my 67 and believe me I don’t know much. Just got done doing a lot of electrical work but I don’t really know anything about engines transmission and drives or bodies or anything like that. Would definitely be a pay someone else to do it job…if it’s even possible.

I just have a dream in my head of my car with a 6spd and awd. But again, that might prove how little I know haha

Anything is possible, but your wallet would have to be pretty fat. You could use the longitudinal engine set up like in a Porsche 911. I guess it could be done.

Yes you can, but it does take a crap ton of fabrication. There was a guy on Protouringmopar.com that was doing a AWD 69 (I think) Charger. He used stuff from other vehicles, I think the front was from a Cadillac or something. Was very well done but I never saw it finished.

Well if I can infer anything from the photos given- there’s no way to do it without making it look unnatural (raised up). I would only do it if the appearance of the car wouldn’t be altered too much. That orange charger isn’t TOO bad but it still looks like a hot wheels car or something.

Whelp got my answer, dream killed and rwd it is….thanks guys!

Ramcharger.....?
Like putting an el camino body on a blazer chassis.
Rednecks can do the unimaginable.

You could do a body over chassis like they already do with early bodies on late model Chargers.

If done correctly, and with a huge budget, the car would look normal with normal ride height. You would have to put it on a lift or open the hood to see the magic. I guess you could also look in the front wheel wells and see the axle shafts.

It could be done. But not easily with the skill set that you say that you have. There would be a significant amount of re-engineering to be done. Not to mention the number of parts that would need to be sourced. It seems like it would be simpler to obtain an AWD car of similar dimensions to your Dodge and then do what's needed to slip that Dodge body onto it. Lots less technical work and more fun. Good luck.
