Don's 1969 Charger Restoration

It's looking like a whole Charger now Don,and getting the nod from the Supervisor is a big deal!

Looking good Don. Great to see you have a helper in the shop as well. You do know that he is probably hooked on old Mopars for life now, right? Poor kid, lol.

Thanks Joel,
And you know its good when he stops his dyno experiments to get in the picture!

Wow, great project! So much time and work into it; I cant wait to see the finished product!

Great attention to detail. I remember asking my body guy to shoot epoxy on the hidden interior metal so it wouldn't rust easily again. You have stepped that up quite a bit.

It'll be a beautiful car when done!

Hi Don, any progress on your charger?
ct71rr
I have to admit there being a couple a bumps in the road (nothing serious) but 2022 should be a good year. The good news, I still love working on her!

:lowdown:Wow it’s coming along good Don.:popcorn2:
Thanks Chris. How's your project? Did you ever use that firewall?

Well from the last time we talked. Life has gotten in the way and end up at my old house that my ex wife decided to walk away from and not tell me :mob: . So I had some one at my door suing me. So it put my plans back a little bit. Bright side to some of this is. I have my old 4 car garage back so I have a lot more room.:drinks: So I getting back on track. I started a thread on here for my 72 roadrunner clone.

Since my project is getting close to being ready to mount onto a rotisserie, I needed to get the ones I picked up 5+ years ago ready.
I started with these which were a bit hoaky and definatly NOT going to work!

Need to ask how much in labor and materials did it cost to put them together.

Blocked mine up about 12 inches and wish I had bought a rotisserie would have made the job so much easier. But toughed it out and got it done. LOL. Good job on the modify work.

So next on the list is getting the bumper brackets welded into the trunk.
prepped the area and sprayed the weld through primer.

So before these were welded in I seam sealed behind the brackets (white smudges) Kinda hard to do after there welded in!

The next area to weld was along the bottom of the quarter panel to the rocker.
This is how I made sure the metal was pinched together before welding.

I used this method (using the jack) to make sure the metal was pinched together along the pinch weld.
Sorry this is the only pic I have

Welded the wheel arch.
I will come back later and double the welds here. These are about every 5 inches

I did the same thing to the passenger side, this pic shows jacking up with the block right against the pinch weld

Sorry another bad pic
If you notice the quarter at the pinch weld is a little long. I will go back and trim this later.
