Assembly line treasures

Back in the mid 80's working at a Ford dealership, customer complaint, intermittent clunk from the passenger side... Drove the car, heard the clunk, took the RF door panel off, found a coke bottle hung on a string tied to the door structure.. Note in the bottle "well you found it what the **** you gonna do about it"... Somebody was bored & didn't like their assembly line job much...
Have you ever read the book A Savage Factory by Robert Dewar? It was about the Ford transmission plant outside of Cincinnati back in the 70s/early 80s. Beyons unbelievable what went on in there.

In the Eighties, my brother, the Diesel mechanic, had an Olds Cutlass Diesel. So he bought a factory service manual. I was looking through the diagnosis section for the Turbo Hydro. It's a wonder any GM car drove off the line, no parts, wrong parts and incorrect assembly!

1976 V-8 4 speed Mustang II coupe, back seat never fit right, strange rattle from left rear interior...turned out a yellow plastic handle screwdriver was in the left rear interior panel, and under the seat ... ENTIRE Sunday edition of Detroit Free Press? can't remember which newspaper exactly, ads/coupons and all. Seat fit great after that, and no more rattle.
