Yeah,
It is definitely a "Conversation" with two outcomes....
Like a GTX, the VIN denotes a Superbee, period.
Many guys / gals wish and desire a True Numbers matching vehicle.
It certainly was easier in the "olden days"...when they were plentiful
(Remember in 1970 nothing was rare...Ha Ha)
But with diminishing and dwindling availability, a Real One (without Fender Tag) is a wonderful car.

These stories hurt me inside.

Show up with some cinder blocks and offer to jack the car up and put it up on blocks. Offer to do it for nothing and tell them to watch you.

Jack it up and show them how the ground moisture is just eating the car away, show them what is already gone. Show them what is already beyond repair. Tell them you care.

Do the work, get it safe, then keep making offers. Show them you really do care.

You really wished it was matching numbers if it was an L78 Camaro. How else would you know? Not the VIN, or the trim tag.

The reason people can let the cars sit and get so bad is the deterioration is so gradual to them. They don't realize it. Of the dozens of cars I've asked about over the years the owner has only said yes once. It's all timing as I've seen cars sold off to others after I was told no.
