you have no bulbs at all? did you see if power is at the sockets? Check fuse and dimmer switch

I just got the dash back from a guy Rachmaninov he went over the whole dash cluster said everything works and was ok he did fix the tach and put a quartz clock in but after putting the cluster back in the gauge lights and clock don’t work not show what to do from here just spent a lot of money on it

When I had my dash pulled apart I replaced all the bulbs. The ones that illuminate the gauges were GE 1895 I believe. I could be wrong about this. The one thing that stood out was a lot of the bulbs no longer use the part numbers in the FSM and had to be cross referenced to another part number. Hope this helps you. I ordered all the bulbs for the car from Zoro.

Well I can't see it being a bulb problem. Does anything at all work on the dash? Blinkers ? The hazard switch? Do the gauges read??

Everything works but the clock and the gauge lights are all out but the bulbs are new the tach also works. The dimmer switch is probably fine but the bulbs don’t light the guy went through the whole cluster and said everything was good

Could the quartz clock he put in be shorting something??

Data Plate, Sorry for this reply, I miss read your messages and thought you had " no bulbs at all " meaning that was your problem, missing bulbs.

Don't have any experience with the quartz conversions, but I would find it hard to think that is the problem. If the gauges work , then it can't be a fuse. I believe the clock is on a constant 12v signal as it has to keep working when the car is not running. The dash lights on the other hand are on a " key on" circuit. You can test for power on the back of the light switch. Do the headlights work?? Did you happen to do anything to the dash frame while you had the cluster out?? The cluster grounds threw the mounting screws into the dash frame.

Ok he did the cluster. That has nothing to do with your dash lights.. They all are on wire, no circuit boards.

clock is power check your ground, slow down I think you need to start and check ground and fuse. Pull a light socket and see if it has power. Restored gauge cluster has nothing to do with dash lights. Try and move dimmer switch back and forth to see if anything happens.

Headlights work fine and the high beam light also works I have the tach hooked up right to the fuse box and I put a test light on the clock/tach gauge housing and the test light lite up meaning the whole unit is showing power is that normal if the sockets aren’t getting power which I think is happening where is there feed source through the harness ?

You need to get the manual and look at the wiring schematic. All the functions you are comparing or looking at have nothing, nothing to do with the dash lights.

I believe fuse 4 or 5 for dash lights, olot of times the dimmer wheel has a bad contact .

The feed for all the instrument lights are straight from the fuse box. Which are feed threw the dimmer switch, which is also connected to the headlamp switch.
Dash lights come on , when headlight switch is turned to parking / headlamp position.
Dimmer switch is a resistor wheel which can have a dead spot in it, but this should have been tested?

And my bad on previous post, your gauges can still work if your dash lights don't

Check fuses, and connection on the back of the dimmer and headlight switch. Make sure wire connector is fully seated into the switches.

Thanks all great advice I will look at it today and yes the guy said all my gauges and switches are good one other question I have the tach hooked up straight from the fuse box should that always be a hot lead or should I put it on a fuse when it’s only hot with ignition on

Ignition on. Getting the wiring diagram will show you these things.
