69 Charger originally with no engine or driveshaft, I have raped the 383, tranny, and driveshaft from a 71 Roadrunner into the Charger. What might I run into since the driveshaft was balanced for the Roadrunner, not the Charger? Anybody had obnoxious shimmys, shakes, vibration, or drivetrain meltdowns as a result of such a swap? Recommendations?

It will not have any balance problems.
However, Is the wheelbase the same on both cars as
that will effect the length.
I seem to remember the 71 Roadrunner being an inch or two
shorter in Wheelbase. Most guys on here will know for sure if
they are different (I am a A body Guy mostly)
If the driveshaft needs to be shortened it should probably be
balanced. I am local to you and can recommend several shops
in Vegas than can do it or make a new one. I have about six B Body
shafts and might trade you if you need a different length.

Driveshafts are balanced outside the car when built, it should make no difference what car it’s in as long as the universals are ok, length is another issue.

This should be easy. The 383 and 727 will drop right without modification and sit where where they should as factory engineered. As said, the 71 RR wheelbase is 2 inches shorter so take the driveshaft to a driveshaft shop and have it shortened that much. They will probably want to have you give them a measurement from the car with the engine/trans and axle installed just to be sure of the dimension. The driveshaft shop will rebalance the driveshaft after it is shortened.

It’s not that easy, he is building the Charger so he needs a driveshaft. Can sell the 71 RR driveshaft though.

Well, "easy" is all relative to skillset and motivation I guess.

What potential hazards would exist if the driveshaft is 1/2 an inch too short? At the moment the driveshaft is seated with what appears to be excellent spline engagement....no wobble whatsoever.

At ride height or hanging rear end. If the rear is hanging it is into the trans the furthest

I am pretty sure you may need the early style motor mounts.iknow at some point they went to different style. I thought it was 71.
Other guys on here will know.

I see on a post
