Is this 69 roadrunner worth restoring or is she too far gone.

Do you have plenty of money? That thing looks like it needs every piece of sheet metal that AMD makes.

Don't get me wrong. Thats my price range for a car. But it would sit around my yard forever until I could afford metal. I'm not rich so I have to buy the junk.
 
As much as I hate to say it, since I love these cars, PASS. Unless you have a lot of $$$$ and time, this could be a huge rabbit hole. Good luck.

Can it be fixed? Sure.
It just depends on your skill set and depth of your wallet

Will it be cost effective,? not a chance . I will guarantee you. That car will get worst the deeper you get into it.


BUT, I understand the desire to own something , and some things you just have to do to find out for yourself .
Major projects like this will always be worth more than most feel they should be compared to a done or even better car.

It's too bad. The world needs more Road Runners to be restored IMO. There were tons of them around when new but everyone took them for granted and run them into the ground or modified them to where they were junked. Now there aren't enough of them. I used to go to the junkyard in the 70's and they were stacked 3 high.

Appreciate the well thought out reply. I always wanted to learn sheet metal fabrication from my welding background, I might be able to cobble something together. I agree it’s a ten year project at minimum with my budget.
 
An absolute pass. With that much visible exterior rot you can bet that any lower end sheet metal is as bad or worse. I wouldn't even buy it for the tags.
 
Thing is if it were "Special" or you had a personal connection to the car then maybe... But the final nail in that rusty coffin is the mention of "No Title".....

If this is your only chance to own your dream car, buy it. Park it in your yard and enjoy being the proud owner of a 69' Roadrunner. It may be worthless to most, and not cost effective to rebuild, but it very well will give you the opportunity to say you own one. Titles aren't difficult to get the legal way. There are bonded titles, lien sales, and title services out there. I'd cobble it together just enough to make it drivable and enjoy burnouts for distance, parking it in the front row of Walmart, and scaring anyone who drives around in a car that has value.

This right here is the plan. Make it a rat rod and drive it. As long as the frame rails are solid enough to do this. They all don’t need to be restored. And you will attract attention with having it out and about. It might lead to a better car in the future.

Exactly. Don't get it right, just get it going. I watched Birdsong get a Super Bee running just to thrash it around. Give that old bird one more chance to breath, even if its just one more burnout before it fades away to the land of rust.

... Or sell the Healey, they are sexy, but really aren't that much fun (unless it has a blown Rover V8). I say that as a Spitfire V8 owner, so I like English cars, but they are what they are.

If you are looking to replace cash with labor, you are better off getting another job, even at minimum wage, as that would top your labor on a rust bucket. People here could tell you how many hours you are looking at. Then, how much are the dozen panels needed? $7K? There is your solid Satellite roller. Instead of buying a floor pan for example, put the $1K in a RR account, saving a week's labor and six stitches. That week's labor at minimum wage is another $350 in the RR account.

You could run a WTB ad looking for solid roller from someone who will take payments and store the car until it's paid for. A solid roller is way ahead if you don't care about numbers matching.
After finding a deal you can successfully complete, write a contract, then open a savings account in both of your names with the $3k and Healey proceeds. The account can't be emptied by one without the other. Both have to agree to withdraw money and the contract protects you both.

Helped a friend put floors and inner fender panels in a TR4. It took six months of spare time and cost a small fortune. I helped to gain the experience and seeing that thing flop around when cut apart, made me wonder if it could ever be completed.
 
I wouldn’t want to try and bring it back. Like others said, it could be done. It does make my cars look very doable!:D

It’s probably worth what he’s asking just for the VIN.
