Hi folks,

I'm currently rebuilding my frontend / suspension.
Whilst I'm at it, I'm also rebuilding the brakes.
When disassembling, I didn't have retaining springs for the outer brake pads on it. They were "fixed" to the caliper with a dab of RTV (I think).

When we did the same rebuild on out 69 Polara CHP, these retaining springs were on it.
For reference:

Are those springs mandatory on a 73 Satellite?
I tried to put on the old springs from the 69CHP, but they didnt quite fit. They were pressing against those rubber bushings (see image) quite hard.

Thanks for helping out!
Best wishes from Germany

Those are anti-rattle springs, r0yce. Some builders put them back on; some don't. Has no effect on piston retraction.

Yep.
I was just wondering if they're stock on 73 B-Body models because I saw them included in some rebuild kits (like from the pic above) but they weren't there when I pulled the brakes apart

It's funny that the service manual shows the clips on the first page of the Disc Brake Section on a complete assembly but never mentions them anywhere else in the section including the rebuild

That's exactly why I got confused :)
Also, I didnt find any shop that sells those springs without them being included in an entire rebuild kit
