Taillights Painting Chroming Etc - What colors and treatment?

If your gonna have pot metal re-chromed be very aware of how it can more or less self destruct when the old plating is being stripped.... I've seen parts that looked pretty good go in for plating & the chrome was all that was holding the part together.... Once stripped areas of the part crumble leaving holes & voids...

And if the part is pitted expect it to need significant repair..... Were not talking $$$ more like $$$$$

Just use an old tooth brush when applying the Mag Cleaner, leave it on for about 5 - 10 min, keep an eye on it and wash it off. If they are filthy, clean the dirt off as best you can. When I cleaned mine they still were dirty looking and that's what the Mag cleaner will take care of and leave a nice cast original look.
I will, that's what I am shooting for: original color as much as possible. Thanks

I'm making the decision to re chrome the top plates for the console in one of my Chargers. I'm just going to suck it up. I might do the same for the taillight bezels.
Yeah I probably will just suck it up. I also have the pot metal Heater/AC control on the dash that needs re-chroming as well, probably cost about the same...

Why not shop for some good used stuff with a WTB advert instead...amazing what some of the folks here have tucked away for a rainy day!

Heater control panel is a tough item to re-chrome, the texture area can't be polished, can't really do anything... Find a good used one....

I will. I have purchased other parts that way. This thread was more about the correct paint for the taillight lens and was very helpful. Thanks

Yes it is a very iffy process. Not a lot of options. BTW I could not get the link above to work. Thanks
