69 Dodge Super Bee, factory 4 speed, factory AC. Has 383 but the 330 hp version, not the 335 hp. So, technically, 383 non HP?

I would like to install the correct Carter carb, has an edelbrock on it now that was aftermarket and has some issues.

In the table below, every version is listed except 69 383 M/T and AC . The 4615 is as close as I can get, for 383 manual transmission and for the HP model I think. Does AC and the non HP 383 matter?

Very confusing, and I've gotten a myriad of responses from different folks...

Thanks in advance for any input.

I have this 4426S 1968 383 MT AVS that's not on your list . It could be correct for your car if it was a early built car?

Looks like the correct carb is a Holley R-4736 for a 1969 383 (330 hp) engine manual trans with N95....#38 on the broadcast sheet....at least what is shown in Govier's white book.

My old 9th edition white book on page 36, shows the
R-4736 is for (1970) 383 4- speed manual trans? And on page 34, the 4711S AVS, is for a 1969 383 Manual Trans. LP & the 4615S, is for a 1969 383 manual Trans.HP. maybe my old book is incorrect ? ? ?

There is a 4615S for sale on ebay right now for $50.oo its listed for parts only? But I'm sure it can be rebuilt.

IMO.....IF this carb was for a manual transmission application, it would have a pneumatic dash pot and bracket assy on the choke side and actuator lever on the primary throttle shaft. What color is the engine painted? TURQUOISE was low HP engine vs HEMI orange for the high HP engine.

Yes the 4615 seems to be it, if for 383 non HP (and the 4615s for 383 HP?). That would make sense, but the other listings, for automatic, show a different carb with a/c than non a/c - does, should, it matter?

It is definitely the 330 horse version, turqoise. It is not the hp version. Problem is, I can't find anything that shows for a 1969 non hp 383, manual trans, AND a/c. Perhaps I am not looking in the right place, above you indicated that according to Govier's data, it should be a Holley R-4736. I did a search for that but could not find anything that tied this to a 69 year.

So are you thinking the 4711s? Does a/c matter? According to the chart above, that is for the 335 horse version unless the "S" designates otherwise? Thanks...

Also I could use a lesson here, what is different about a carb with automatic vs manual trans, and what is different about a/c vs. non a/c?

Referring to the pictures of the 4426S carburetor that I posted, it DID have the dashpot and a bracket when I purchased it a long time ago. I robbed the dashpot assembly for my 4617s carb because the dashpot was not being reproduced back then and that's why I'm in possession of this dashpotless carb.

I guess my listing is a sixth (6 th) printing.....outdated or revised ..... my old book is older yhan yours!!

According to my old book if correct? I think you need the 4711S LP=low performance and the * stand for with or without a/c

Thanks much guys, seems to be the 4711S per Tony's post above abd Bob's previous comments. I was unaware the asterisk meant either a/c or non a/c

The - S is = Carter's way to show "assembly"....sometimes a - SA = an engineering revision to the basic design like dimension, feature, accessory, jetting. USUALLY, A/C cars have a hot idle compensator valve, a bi-metal operated air bleed, that opens in hot under hood conditions to relieve a rich mixture condition. On an AVS design, its between the secondary throttle bores, under the air valve blade. On a Holley, its internal on the linkage side of the carb, in a cast in pocket with a cover plate...for same function.

Usually, the difference between an automatic transmission application and a manual transmission application is the position of the off idle fuel transition slots, the idle jet, idle economize and idle air bleed orifices located in the primary booster venturii assemblies and in the '68 and later carbs, the calibration of the off idle air bleed valve and the addition of drilled passage ways around the primary throttle plates.
