Hello, looking at doing the stage 5 conversion where you put hemi heads on a 440 block. In the last 3 weeks I've sent two emails, and called and left a voicemail to stage 5 with no response.

Are they usually like that? Are they out of stock or something? Anybody had any dealings recently? Thank you

Times are different, their quality is impeccable! Also they make the best rockers in the business. Only question is how do they deal with the head bolts in hte valley like in the hemi blocks.

They don’t make the wedge conversion heads and related parts any more.

Serious? I've read a couple posts where guys got them fairly recently and they still have them listed? When did that stop? Anybody else doing it?

It’s been years. They still have them listed? Where?

This shows an aluminum hemi head. Is this a conversion head?

They also list a 383 block manifold. Their site isn't the best
That’s not a conversion head. I tried to buy them new a few years back and was told they don’t make them anymore. I’ve posted on this site looking for a set with no luck. Here’s a conversion head on a wedge block.

Damn, my customer is going to be severely disappointed. Is there any other companies that did this in the past? Otherwise, we're looking up dressing up a gen 3 hemi as a Gen 2 and putting that in there but I don't think he wants to do that

The upper head bolts are in the intake ports.

You can still get hemi blocks and standard heads although availability might be tough with all the supply chain issues going on today.

I know the crate hemi came out a few years ago, but I assume all of those are bought up right away

You’ll need to buy each piece and build it using aftermarket parts. Blocks are available from Indy Cylinder Heads, Keith Black, Bill Mitchell, etc. All the parts are available to build it, you just have to source and assemble.

Yeah that's what I was thinking, but parts alone doing that probably is going to be 15 to 20 grand? I suspect?

20 grand “might” cover parts. Then add labor and machining costs. Massive price increases the last two years.

I tried to look them up long ago, and no mention then of those conversion kits.... you have to remember, they were only offered at a time when original Hemis were getting scarce and Mopar Perf wasn't offering the aftermarket blocks, etc yet.
Anyway, if you could do a conversion with those heads, you're gonna need a different crank, or you will have to balance your 440 crank with Mallory metal to use relatively heavy hemi pistons that will be needed.
