When I 1st saw the title I thought, rut roh !!!
The sad part Al, is I didn't notice you weren't posting
or participation in the convos or getting e-mails etc.
I'm So Sorry, time sort of flies by...
It's also, Good to have you back...
I do most everything I can, except machine or tire work, cars wise
right wrong or indignant, at least it gets done...
but I've been/sentenced too or in;
machine shop jail, any of the Long Beach gangs,
or in Concord, Walnut Creek, Pacheco or Vallejo places
aluminum block &/or head repair jails (
specialists)
hardware jail (
waiting for special studs, nuts, bolts & washers)
even custom rod, piston, rings & bearing jails,
even when I had (
Uncle Joe Pisano RIP 'not my real Uncle')
Venolia/Childs & Albert as my sponsors (
co. gone now too)
multiple carbon fiber/fiberglass parts jail
tire suppliers jail (
or pay the price at the track of 50%+ more)
pro-gear manufacturers jail
custom or just plain old 'converter' jail
*clutch, trans or can jail
even self-imposed body & paint jail (
or ultimately do-over jail)
fabricators/chassis builders jail
'
chassis builders can be the worst'
when I 1st built my 1st FC & then turned it into an altered
my old brand x doorslammer was in & out of Tom Alston's shop
in like 3 weeks, way back in the later 70's
But my T/S or outlaws P/S car/s or my 1st FC/Altered was a struggle
I had to go over to the chassis fabricators garage
(
Don T. in Pacheco Ca. or Bob M. in Pleasant Hill Ca., bob wasn't as bad),
buy him blades for his, lathe or band saw, belts for the sander &
rod, or tips, get his bottle refilled etc.
do multiple beer runs (
for afterwards)
,
I helped drink them too...
Stay on top of it, to motivate the guy & get/keep the ball rolling...
'some have worst than bankers hrs'
but;
I will confess, he taught me a ton of 'priceless lessons'
(
Don he was/is one of the best at what he does, just takes his sweet *** time,
in his defense, he was going thru carpal tunnel stuff, so I did the grunt work)
& learned how to do the stuff myself, way back when, 'great education'
it wasn't free by any stretch...
but;
learning from some of the best, so I didn't have to go thru that **** much,
anymore, is/was priceless...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think anyone in any business can relate, to some of or most of this stuff...
I've also been in building/supplies materials jail many, many, many times
holding up finishing 'paying jobs' waiting on windows, doors, roofing,
HVAC, carpeting, tile/flooring, lifts, or even rental tools/equipment
or just basically any subcontractor Jail,
any or all, of contractors/project managers-nightmares/jail
any or all, being at the mercy of someone else's schedule etc.
even towtruck/rollback jail
being at the mercy of a towtruck/rollback driver, sitting on the
side of the road "waiting", they seemed to take their sweet *** time too
Sitting stranded, they say "be there in 45 min.s"
& show up 2+ hrs later or not show up at all
& having to call another company altogether...
my $1.25
