3/18/2022, I know many of you probably DON'T think it is a big deal but Mopar is Mopar so it doesn't matter to me. The most reliable (in my opinion) engine there is for a Mopar. The picture below of the 318 is from my stepdads '68 Sport Fury; (photo courtesy of Moparts).....

It's the LA 318 that is often mentioned, along with the slant 6, as being one of the best engine
designs of the 20th century.
Virtually indestructible with a modicum of maintenance...
 
Still original, and runs like it always has, my '75 B200 !

All the cool Big block high hp stuff I have done over the years. We haven’t topped some of the crazy stuff we did with some 318s. Not in terms of HP, but shear abuse. 6700 rpm for a few minutes. Highest mph ever for either my brother or I was still with a modded 318 car. Turbo charged 318 7500+ rpm burn out in drive with 3.23s, burried the 7500 tach on that one for probably 20-30 seconds. To the 300,000 + miles untouched in a 2bbl stocker, only needing a timing chain at 278,000, plus a water pump and alternator…Tuff, tuff engines. Timing chain seems to be the first thing major thing to go, out lasts the body
