Any seat belt restoration options to Snake Oyl?

Thanks for the advise, I will try speaking with his wife but this should not be the way any business is run. I am in the service business for 42 years and have never treated a customer the way he is. I am realley fed up with him.
Did you ever get your belts from Bill? I have a set for my 70 GTX I need done but it looks like getting a set done these days might be a problem. I was thinking about just buying the repros from PG Classics.

I had Bill Edward’s make a set for my 69 GTX. All kinds of communication issues, 6 month wait. Looked good when I got them, one already frayed where sown. Too much drama for me.

I tried to work with him....
Initially he told me 3 to 4 weeks for a set of black ebody belts.....No problem.
I started checking a couple month later. He did not communicate at all. When he did it was some rambling e-mail about losing his contacts or I am sending your belts out in a few days.
I just gave up on him after 6 months......

I called and tried to leave a message with Bill. No answer and could not leave a message.

Anyone else deal with Bill recently with success?

Was able to talk to him only once. Told me 3 to 4 week turn around. That was 4 months ago. Never got my belts. Never returned my calls or texts. IMO there is room for another seat belt shop to make some money. He seems kind of flakey. I can't deal with some one like this.

So I sent my original shoulder belts to Bill to have the elastic retainer straps replaced. He said that this was a quick job and that they would be done and shipped back to me within a few days. After a series of emails and phone calls, I am starting to be concerned as days have turned into weeks. He seems like a great guy who is having some health problems, so I'll give him some more time.

At some point I may reach out to the FBBO community to see if someone is close to Spanaway, WA.

I dealt with John Rimel who acted as an agent for Bill. He handled all aspects of it including payment, except I believe final shipping back was by Bill directly. Yes, he is a bit slow, unorganized and has some issues but I did get my finished belts back last summer. John is a forum member - dart4forte. You might try contacting him but I’m not sure he can be of much help unless you originally sent the belts to him in the first place.

Thank you. Yes Bill has my original belts and at this point I just want them back. I will reach out to John.

dart4forte is no longer doing business with Bill.

In that case I’m glad I got my belts back last summer. Bill a nice guy to converse with but I would probably go somewhere else for seat belts work instead. Good luck to those trying to get parts back.

Update. Bill is experiencing some health issues, but has managed to keep in contact with me. I won't go into details of the delays but he is a stand up guy, and keeps his word. I received my belts today and his workmanship is top shelf.

GOOD FOR U. He never got back to me after 5 months. He never told me he was sick when I spoke with him. How are u able to get in touch with him? Why does he contact you and not me?? What's the secret, please share. Please respond. BTW Reproduction belts available from Classic Industries.

I emailed him about once a week, and called his shop phone number. There is a 3 hour time difference so I called around noon west coast time.
He is a very friendly guy and I had no trouble talking to him. He is a Mopar guy through and through so I appreciated his stories. None of us are getting any younger so I can relate to living with medical problems.

Buyer beware! Chased him for months to get my belts back. Got all the stories as outlined above about promised completion dates, shipping but receipt and tracking data lost, etc. Ultimately found out they had never been shipped and were found in his wife’s van. Had to threaten to stop Pay Pal payment to finally get a call back and to finally get them shipped. When everything is unwrapped, we’ll see if it’s all there and works.

Again, he does great work. He works at his own pace, and apparently does have some physical issues, so I had to take a step back and realize that I wasn't dealing with a quick turn around despite his claims.

Thank goodness there are still people like Bill who have the passion and skill to work on our old crap! We live in an immediate gratification world, emails, texts, Amazon, etc. and sometimes we need to step back and cut people some slack that are moving at a different speed.

Just MHO.

Moving at a different speed is one thing. Ignoring communications, making misleading statements about shipments, and blaming everything on the USPS is another.
