Trouble with lower radiator hose leaking

Hello Everyone:
After years of wanting and searching, I finally have my '67 GTX W/440, and now I'm on the way to making it a nice ride. Just installed new radiator, fan, fan clutch, fan shroud and hoses. I'm having a problem with the engine block lower radiator hose outlet. It has some pitting and porosity around the cast iron outlet diameter and neck, and the hose is not sealing well, keeps leaking. Has anyone else had this problem, and what is a good fix for it? Hose clamp is tight as heck, just won't seal.

Clean it well with brake clean. Sand it and clean it again. Also clean the hose. Put a light skim cote of RTV on it and install the hose. Also make sure it is not coming from the water pump weep hole and running down.

Nice GTX.
May need a new water pump housing if it is pitted bad. I have seen using JB weld on the pits and sanding smooth but that is a patch.

I'll double check the water pump, use some RTV and give it a go again.
Can't wait to get this thing up and running and get on the Coast Highway here in CA.
Love pulling up next to Ferrari's and making them roll up the windows!!
 
Worth a shot without outlet remediation. Permatex Aviation Sealer. Clean inside hose and outlet. Apply liberally to both and let dry per directions. Button up and clamp. Really sticky stuff once set. Solved my chrome thermostat neck that is too slick.
 
Try a Gates Power Grip clamp. They are shrink material that keeps constant tension on the hose. I had a new T-stat housing, new hose, and two spring clamps and couldn't stop a leek. The Power Grip did and they give a clean look under the hood.

RTV is the wrong sealer for that. Try Indian head gasket compound by permatex. Put a coat on the hose and the housing wait for it to get tacky and install. Let dry before putting in the coolant.

silly question, is the lower hose new? Is it the correct molded hose for the car? 1.75” Opening?

Yes, lower hose is a correct & new Gates hose, 1.75" opening.
I did notice the pitting in the housing, but didn't think too much of it because the old hose wasn't leaking.
Now I realize, I should have addressed it when everything was out.

Also, I'll second the Indian Head shellac that R413 mentioned. You can get it just about anywhere that carries permatex products. If the hose is correct, it will seal up.
I would NOT use RTV.
