Repointing 4spd gears.

I am in the process of rebuilding a 18 spline trans and am looking at the 2nd and 3rd gears. The teeth on the gears look a bit rounded. What do you think and how is it done?

Third pic is 1st gear for reference. Will get a new input 4th as shaft has been cut.
 
IMO.....I believe we're looking at the synchronizers and not the actual gears. As the actual main shaft gears are in constant mesh with the corresponding counter shaft gear assembly, the gears typically don't exhibit the degree of wear shown. The synchro's and the sliding sleeve (blocking ring) show the wear and are made from a hardened brass alloy, possibly navel brass, as this is what connects the synchro teeth with main shaft and ultimately the gear ratio selected. USUALLY, the components are replaced rather than re-pointing them.
Just my opinion of course....

Mine used to pop out of gear on decel, I used a dremel with a tiny cut off wheel to repoint them. Took my time, didn't take off any more than necessary to make them sharp again.

I did the sliders and the clutch teeth on the gear and put new stop rings and now it shifts like new again
 
Using the Dremel cut off wheel works well to point the teeth. Then take a thin flat file to remove burrs from the teeth on the synchro hubs. Doesn't matter if the inner and outer hub teeth are sloppy. it'll shift even better. Just file off all the ridges. You'll end up with 'the best shifting 833 you've ever driven.

All I've ever done is hit any chipped teeth with a flap wheel. Never worried about the syncros being pointed. Made sure the brass rings were in good shape though - usually replaced with new. I've always blended down the detent ramps on the shift dogs which is an area of high shift effort. My trannys always shift like a hot knife through butter. Needless to say I think having sharp teeth on the syncros is highly overrated.
