I believe 3 is correct. I don't recall Pataki leaving office under any scandal.

many of them are car/motorcycle enthusiasts people too
SEMA should be lobbying that **** too or it will be their demise

I've owned/driven many modified cars, most had some sort of
modified exhaust too, most have had headers, bigger diameter pipes
some loud, some just a nice low tone,
some just headers with header mufflers & no tailpipes
since 1974, & motorcycles before that, minibikes or gocarts before that
everything had had modified exhaust, of some sorts
for some 48+ years, since I got my learners permit...

& I live in Calif.

I actually know a lot of LEOs that love cars too
that have modified cars/trucks & exhausts too
It's not all of them doing that lame BS

It's music to my ears
muscle/performance cars are supposed to be a lil' obnoxious,
that's the whole point, rebellion
(was org. the youth movement, now it's a bunch of old dudes too)
might as well own a damn Prius, if you don't like a lil' rumble exhaust tone
yeah they don't need to be deafeningly loud either
I reserve that for the track...
Many of them have noise statutes/rules now too...
Partially why I run tailpipes all the way out the rear of the car
even with 600+hp & 3" exhaust, & unless you're really on it hard,
it's not that loud... My Diesel Dually is far louder...
'even with Flowmasters' (I have no dreaded 'drone' either)...

but none as bad as the fart-can (tuners)
crapboxes/F&F type cars of today
or the 100dp 1,000+ watt stereos/bass boom boom nonsense, cRap
rattling everyone's windows, for a block or more away

I have never gotten a ticket for 'too loud' or modified exhaust
gotten just about every other kind of ticket, until about 1985-ish
I've only gotten' 2 speeding tickets since too,
65 in a 55 going down a big *** hill
I didn't want to ride the damn brakes the whole way
(CHP was hiding in the medium, clocking people going down the steep grade)
I beat that ticket in court too, went to traffic school it was dropped...
& 45 in a 35 zones, I didn't know I was even doing 45,
I was going with the flow of traffic, I just paid the ticket...

seems like some people do the wrong **** at the wrong time
don't be stupid, 99% of the time nothing will happen to you

The NY DMV charge for annual inspection for a classic is $10.00 not $5.00. Be thankful they don't start taking it apart to check anything. They guy I go to knows how well I maintain my cars, so checks lights and can see the brake pads with a mirror.

Mine get the lights and horn checked.
Years ago I used to just get handed the stickers and I would apply them myself.
Those were the days.

That may have worked years ago. These new Barney's are taught in cop school that they are serving the majority and making things better with a $$$ citation.
Had a local cop when I was in high school (long ago) caught me riding my motorcycle on the road with no plate, no license, no nothing. He made me push it all the way home. I learned more from that than any citation.

They don't make much noise while on a trailer.

This is not enforceable, unless theres some sort of decibel threshold. Even then I don't see police enforcing it. Probably fake news.

That said i wouldn't mind glass packs being banned.

Agree, not sure how they could enforce it. Does NY patrol have specs on noise level of a stock OEM 440 '68 GTX or a '70 Hemi Cuda? Doubt it. But the lawyers get richer defending your contested ticket.

I have a 71 Cuda with a Gen2 hemi and tti exhaust and admit it is loud. The original car had a muffler and a resonator to keep it quieter. Nobody uses the resonator any more and I don't even know if there available. I was pulled over, because cop thought I got on it in front of him, but I did to get on the parkway to catch up to the 70 mph cars. As I stopped the car I shut engine so he wouldn't hear how much noise it makes. He did let me go, no warning or ticket, but I was humane to the officer.

Early spring maybe 6-7 years ago I had just got the Charger out. Maybe driven it 3 or 4 times.
My son wanted to drive it so I said OK let's just go around the block or something.
He literally just pulled out and around the corner to see lights behind us.
He was worried but I said don't worry you didn't do anything wrong it's probably just the inspection sticker color is wrong.
The officer approaches and I promptly tell him I just got the car out and need to get it inspected.
He says "Oh I don't care about the sticker. I just wanted to see the car".
My son was relieved but I was a little angry that he kind of abused his authority but since we weren't actually going anywhere I figured we got lucky.

Gee, I recall being amazed that a '70 Cuda without the resonator sounded about the same as one with it.
