The turn signal switch in my Satellite has very soft detent action between positions - almost none. Self canceling does work. I noticed the switch and the canceling cam are available separately. Does it sound like I need the whole works or maybe just a new cancelling cam?

I've heard bad things about replacement parts.
Maybe try a low mileage used one?

Try calling Shee Mar in Colorado.. you can google them to get contact information. Moparmark I know have used them on some of his projects, and had sucess with them. I did order some for a few projects, but have not used them yet. They do make some of their stuff in house. Good luck.

Daniel Stern Lighting has great replacement switches.
He used to be on the forum as slantsixdan.

OK, thanks for noting the suppliers. Any input on if the detent action is in the switch or the cancelling cam? Or both?

Well funny you should ask. Just replaced my cancelling cam yesterday on my 66 Satellite. The old one was broke at the right turn cancelling tip. This one I purchased from Classic Industries $10. New part was a near perfect replacement. I put a dab of di-electric grease at top and bottom detents where cam nubs ride the switch housing lobes. Firmed up the turn signal lever action. 20220331_171628.jpg

I put a cam only in my 66 Dart and it works perfect.

Did either of you have soft detent action before replacing the cam? I pulled my wheel the other day to look at it. Nothing wrong as far as broken parts, just seems worn out as not much snap in switching it.

A tab on mine was broke so one side wouldn't cancel. The replacement cam made for firm action.

I had the soft action, but figured it was due to the broken nub on back side of cam piece.

That circled nub (as I call it) rides on the lobes at each end of contact housing. That's what firms up the lever action.

I couldn’t see anything broken on mine and I do still feel the detent action but it’s very soft. For the money I may try a new cam and see what happens.
