To the guys/gals that live in Texas, what does a car and truck cost to register it yearly? I’m not concerned with the tax, just the registration.

We are trying to get our ducks in a row as we are getting our house ready for sale and hope to be in Texas by the start of the fall school year.

Totally for about Cranky!

Thanks!!

I sell motor vehicles in Austin. Title and registration is about $90. There is no annual excise tax. You'll have to have your vehicles safety inspected before registration, that's how you get the vin confirmed. If coming to Travis county, you'll want to make an appointment with the tax assessor, otherwise you may be waiting a long time.

Depends on the age and type of vehicle. My truck cost roughly $77, and my commuter car is $65 ish. You will have to have it inspected as mentioned.

Im jealous!! :poke:

That’s cheap. Az not so much. My 21 Jeep was just over 700. My old cars are 32.00 each.

Is that inspection an annual thing or just a 1 time deal cause I’ll be new to the state?

Registration costs in California are a punt to the fart pipe.

Damn, don’t let Commiefornia know about that!!

You have to have a state inspection on emmisions vehicles, I forgot what year it stops at. You cant get registration until you have the inspection done, my inspector charges $23 for it.
As far as you Mopar, you can apply for antique plates and not worry about inspections, and only have to renew every 3 yrs.
Glad to have you come to Tx bud! What part are you miving too?

We are still looking. We do like East Texas, we are tired of the “brown color”, it’d be real nice to see “green” for a change. Tyler, Lufkin area is nice, Weatherford too. But I do t want to be in Houston or the border area.

Lufkin is a nice area. Green but humid.
The antique tag is good for 3 or is it 5 year span. You pay advorum tax when you buy the tag for this period. Not too bad cost wise.
I lived in Missouri 37 years until about 5 yrs. ago, There you pay like $20 for an antique tag that is good forever!!!
Please forget all the West Coast mentality when you arrive enough of that in Austin and Houston! Sorry Cranky!!

I have no “west coast mentality”. I’ve told my that family they screwed up voting for a racist and whore. I bring conservative values and common sense with me. I believe the Constitution is the law of the land, dimtards are idiots and there’s only 2 genders. I’m the conservative needle in the haystack of liberals!

Tyler/Lufkin are nice, good fishing lakes close by. Check Palestine as well.
One thing to remember east Tx is all pi e trees, if you move closer to I-45 you get in to the oak plains & hills.

Property taxes are a killer in Texas!
