Anyone know if the accel pump from an Edelbrock 1400,03,04,05,06 will work in an older Carter AFB, specifically, a Carter AFB #4294 ('67 273). I understand 1407 and up use larger diameter pumps. Correct originals are getting hard to find, and expensive, and buying a whole rebuild kit just for the pump plunger makes no sense to me.

not sure of your exact situation....... but I will share my (edelbrock) experience, that the plunger will suffer "shrinkage" when left to dry out in an empty carburetor and will not function; but after gas is in the carb for a bit, it will swell up and function normally

I would bee looking at the Edelbrock 1467 or 1468 Accelerator Pump

1468 has a stiffer spring

I wish Eddy posted dimensions for those pumps, then I could compare the Carter one and an Eddy one.

I have some carter 64-279 and new walker version leather. Could mail in padded envelope. Got a buddy in Maine?

According to Chicago Carb, I need a 64-237 pump. No buddies in Maine.I have an email into them regarding shipping.

64-279 is the OEM carter part number. I have OEM part. Leather cup, brass with no percolator ball as called for your carb. This was a performance pump as on the max wedge carbs and certain SB and 4 speed AFBs. The walker number I have that is used in their kits is 64-213. The after market producers have not followed Carter number system completely and they have consolidated the pumps to have fewer parts. Yours is a 11/16" bore, but there are differences in length of pump and collapse length (duration and delay). The walker is made like the Carter version. I could ship you either for $30 I imagine. Have not shipped a small part to CA so I am not sure how high mailing has gotten. So Assuming $20 for part and $10 mailing.
