When I bought the car, he said he just painted it, and buffed it out once. He said it could use a second buff and wax. Idk? Looks pretty good to me. Does it really need a second buff? What compound would I use for the second buff?

Thanks!

She buffed it once and asked the same question. I told her to buff it again and again. We used lobster oil……. Where’s @Kern Dog ?

If you are happy with it, leave it alone. I don't know your skills with a buffer, but most people can cause more problems than they had. If it's base clear the first buffing has already reduced the amount of clear coat and it will be much easier to cut through to the base coat.

Post some pictures. This stuff is really good.

I don't have very good detailed pictures yet and I'm in Wisconsin and weather has been less than perfect still. I've done minor things. But it's still cloudy and pretty cold.

You need to post close up pictures of the paint surfaces. If you do any more polishing I would use an orbital, dual action polisher and a mild polish or conditioner. I like Wizard products a lot. If it has excess orange peel and compounding/color sanding scratches in the finish still. I would take it back to the painter to finish the work.

1st off nice looking car.
You got some good advice,
You can get yourself in trouble with a buffer when you do not know for sure what or how many coats your working with.
When you can post some close up pics of what you think is the worst areas, have a light shining across the panel so we can see the finish.
If possible see if you can speak with the painter to see what you have on it and top coats.

It's your car. If it looks pretty good to you, don't worry about it. Just wax it and see how it goes.

I would definitely have a talk with the painter that painted the car first. You don't know if he sprayed 2 coats or 4 coats of clear and if it's been cut once already you might do more harm than good by cutting it again. I do not like to cut fresh paint.
I like to give a few weeks to let the paint and clear gas off and harden before I cut it.
It might also be worth it to see if the painter would be interested in doing a final cut and buff for a few $$$ if it really needs it. A good ceramic coat might be all it really needs.
