I have an 8 3/4 rear I am trying to help my friend sell. He was told it was for an a body but it’s not. It measures out as a 65-67 rear. It is complete minus the brakes and backing plates. It has a 489 case with 2.76 sure grip. It feels nice and tight at the pinion. I am not sure what this would go for. Anyone have a good range for what I should ask for it? He asked me to sell it for him. I deal more with 68-70 b body stuff. Thanks!

I would start in the $400 to $500 range.

I have a nice .one out of real 67 RT Complete (Not a Sure Grip) and have advertised it
several times for $275. and never a buyer so I do not think near that much.

The early narrow housing is a plus. Can have the spring pads moved and used in an a-body with the right wheels.
The gear ratio is a big minus to anybody looking to upgrade from a 7 1/4, 8 1/4.
489 case is a plus.
Sure grip is a cone, a minus compared to a Clutch type, a plus compared to any open.
No brakes is a minus. Most brake parts are available, but backing plates could be hard to find.
I agree with Darter6. 400 to 500 is about right, if you can prove the suregrip is good.

I would pull the center chunk , verify the ratio, check the condition and advertise / sell it without the housing.
Unless you have a local buyer in mind or a upcoming swap meet.
You get more interest & $ for it if you guys can ship it.
