The alternator bracket is on backwards. The slot is at the water pump end.

I see you have the same coil bracket on the intake i have. That movea the coil out away from the carb.
Is that factory correct?
Because its a 67 with air maybe?

Never seen that before

Mine is a 1966 Charger with factory A/C. I believe the bracket is factory to move the coil away from the A/C support, but I can't swear to the authenticity of the bracket as the car had already been changed from a 2 barrel to a 4 barrel manifold by the previous owner (361 engine).

Dang, I’ve had my 67 GTX with AC for over 20 years with the slot at the end at the alternator and no one ever pointed that out before. I think I’m also missing that bracket on the bottom to the idler.:(

My 67 Satellite 383 a/c has always had the bracket oriented the same as the op with the slot by the alternator. Was a 20 yr old used car that hadn't been messed with when I got it, but it's possible someone changed it.

@Jerry Hall would know

I tried to flip the bracket with slot by water pump.

Aint gonna work that way..bracket hits water pump bolt

I haven’t tried it but I don’t think mine will either. It has some sort of bracket on it with a threaded hole that seems to function as a heater hose guard. It could be a 68 bracket. I think it would interfere with reversing it.

That bracket that you guys speak of relocating the coil, anyone have one to sell????
Thanks Ron

That picture has the bracket welded to the adjusting strap that mine has. Seems to be a heater hose guard but not sure what the tapped hole in it would be for. The hole is obstructed by the belts in the picture.

Ron, If its not factory. You can have the one I have. AS I have the coil mounted and just slid the coil up a tad to clear the carb and its fine

If it is in factory I will keep it.

Ive seen the bracket style you have. Just dont remember the car it was on

Could have been a mid year change. When I stripped my engine compartment down similar to what you are doing, it appeared they had found a complete 68 GTX engine and dropped in it. But as for all the brackets and mounts I’ll never know for sure their origin.

It could also be a Plymouth vs Dodge thing.

I thought it looked backwards but mine is pretty much untouched and to me this looks backwards but it hasn't been messed with that I know of.
