1966 Plymouth Satellite HP2

I can’t place my finger on what’s different about your Magnum 500 wheels. I’m concluding they are a billet wheel? Is that it?
Brand new, haven't even looked close to see what mfg they are. I thankfully got the original wheels and hubcaps with the car.

Nice time capsule. Congratulations. Thanks for saving this rare piece of history. I've never even heard of the HP2.

Congratulations Wayne! Beauty Satellite! Beautiful collection! Looking forward to the shake down Wayne!! So so informative! Congrats again Wayne!

Wayne, she's a beauty! I seen it last night on YT as it came across you had posted.
I seen the excitement when you pulled it out and circled back! What an awesome car to add to the rest of your awesome collection!

Wow

I absolutely love that body and it's silver... And it has a HEMI:bananadance::bananadance::bananadance:

I'm envious, congratulations!!

Gorgeous car indeed. Where the heck do you find these things?

Great find, Wayne! I see it came with armstrong steering, too - ain't it great?!

By the way, I've read that HP2 = Hemi Powered Plymouth. I'd have to look through my stuff to see where I got that from, but I think I've seen that more than once. Congrats on a great car.

Did the HP2 66s come in Belvederes as well? I know of a 66 Hemi Belvedere that was a 4 speed. But the owner lost both his arms in a farm accident So he had it converted to a auto. And a spinner knob on the steering wheel with a rubber cup for a left hand off a arm extension .
Just curious about the HP2 on the Belvederes.

Well it is a small 2 compared to the HP, so that makes sense HP Squared !

Thought I was just taking interesting shots today and then spent 4 hours fixing the heat pipe that wasn't installed on the exhaust spigot. If the guy that designed that intake manifold heat system isn't dead yet, can I have first dibs?!

Headlight shields have never been touched. Original HP2 emblem retainers still in place.

Found it interesting that part # was so clear on both LCA stops. Almost thought it was a hidden body stamp.

Manifolds are so cool. Can someone advise what the extra threaded holes are for in the heads that the manifolds don't use?!
1966plymouthsathp2cleanup 026.jpg

So cool how the drivers side sweeps around the steering box and starter.

I didn't clean them off, but looks like someone swapped out the 781/780 bars for some softer 777/778 for the strip I CLEANED THEM, they are indeed 781/780 bars per the broadcast sheet.

7 leaves on the drivers side.

6 full and 2 partials on the passenger side. Thinking also drag strip related...??

Yes, any early 1966 Hemi Plymouth had the HP2 emblem

Dodge was 426HEMI on them all

Simply amazing rockers and seams.

Can't read the block cast date because of the starter.

Got an idea. Slide some paper in and rub with a dirty Popsicle stick.
1966plymouthsathp2cleanup 072.jpg

Took a few tries but I got it. 06 - 10 - 68 and I don't imagine it was warranty! lol

Pain the *** to get the flange bolts. Thank god I found my air ratchet.
1966plymouthsathp2cleanup 083.jpg

Guy had one friggin job and he missed putting the heat tube on the spigot.... or did he forget or give up!!
1966plymouthsathp2cleanup 085.jpg

I thought the fuel line was wrong and almost "fixed it". But Jerry showed me two of his and they're the same, over the radiator hose. What's the consensus?
1966plymouthsathp2cleanup 095.jpg

Upper cover appears to be heavy OE chrome dome, but the base is reproduction by this guy in Whitby to fit the 5" Edelbrocks.
1966plymouthsathp2cleanup 101.jpg

Next up is going to be figuring out how to tune this, as the exhaust is burning my eyes...
1966plymouthsathp2cleanup 102.jpg

Electronic ignition hidden under the battery tray.
1966plymouthsathp2cleanup 103.jpg

Interesting linkage set up to comprehend.
1966plymouthsathp2cleanup 107.jpg

Both carbs Edelbrock 1404's.
1966plymouthsathp2cleanup 116.jpg

Need a heater hose bracket it seems. Although the inner fender hole is dimpled, there is no hole or evidence of ever having been a screw in it.
1966plymouthsathp2cleanup 117.jpg

This intake manifold heat tube system is a PITA to work on.
1966plymouthsathp2cleanup 120.jpg

Heater tube wouldn't sit far enough down to get intake ends bolts in. Couldn't cut the spigot down as needed so I cut a slot and coned in the top of the spigot a bit to make it do so.
1966plymouthsathp2cleanup 123.jpg

Success.
1966plymouthsathp2cleanup 128.jpg

Correct 282948 radiator.

My upper rad hose is over the fuel line, but the hose isn't the original.

Are your front shocks by any chance Gabriels? They look like the ones that came off mine when the front end was rebuilt (same blue color). I'm sure mine are the originals because they have factory undercoating all over them. I was surprised to see Gabriel stickers on them.
