OOPS! Don't park a tractor trailer on the top of a parking garage...

My question: The parking deck is adjoined to a paved parking lot. Are there warning signs or barricades to notify drivers that they are going on to the parking garage deck? Weight limit signs, etc.? I bet there is going to be lawyers heavily involved here...

exactly, how is the driver supposed to know

Driver free and clear if not posted. Warnings should be everywhere.

Well, time for some Google Map detective work!

These are the two signs posted at the only two entrances to that parking structure,
which is only two levels tall.
Turns out, it's a private parking lot for the YMCA and nobody is supposed to be using
it after their hours of business, which this truck certainly arrived after.
It also turns out nobody BUT YMCA folks are supposed to use it to begin with, with
threats of prosecution for trespassing to violators.

I think we're not talking lawsuit here - but hell, anybody can sue anybody for anything
these days, eh?

Reckon the fella was in the wrong here, but it was late and he figured maybe nobody
was going to fuss?

He is on top of the structure not at a entrance. Needs to be marked if it is low clearance or weight limited. He should have been more cognizant of the change in parking lot material (why did it change, oh because it's a roof). Bad on both driver and property owner.

This picture from another news channel. Looks like the trailer landing gear caught the edge of the other lot. Probably kept it from crashing all the way thru!

There's only two means of accessing the thing and he had to come through one of them....
which means, he drove right past those signs.

Ya think

I'm not defending the guy, but
can't say that I have never turned around in a no trucks or tractor-trailers permitted lot in the middle of the night. Glad it was not a disguised parking garage. Glad I don't have to sleep in the truck either.
I think from that other angle you can tell your on a raised lot, that should be a red flag
