Pondering a convertor for the 63 Belvidere. I dont see anything on Cope A&A summit ect. Lots of S/S type cars at MATS run push 727s. I know I need to pull the TC to verify spline count ect. Looking for something along the lines of a Hughes 2500 stall. What say Gurus.

All depends on what you trying to get from the convertor. You do need to determine which input shaft you have. Many got changed over the years. The real good manufacturers of aftermarket convertors ask many questions about your combination and proposed use. Lots of top vendors out there, Lupo Dynamic, A&A, Turbo Action, Cope, Coan. Call all of them.

If you change the input shaft and pump to a 70 or newer (71 and up preferred but that means a new high/rev drum as well) you can use any converter. If it has the original stuff the search gets much tougher. If you had a 10 3/4" 66 and older core someone might be able to use that as a core. The 11 3/4 unit is really to large for that stall speed range. Try PTC Kenny Ford is a Mopar guy. Might also try Bubba at Perfect Converter.

And this is on all 1962-1966 model year 727’s that use the different converter, fewer splines and smaller input amd reaction shaft.

A&A had many early converters listed. Are you saying they no longer do??

Correct I dont see anything listed. I am doing this for a friend and he dont have $$ to convert to the later style guts and wants to keep the push buttons. Guess I will just have to pull the trans and see what we have.
