Just wondering if I can get correct readings from my afr gauge when standing still revving the engine in the garage.
(Moving the throttle to 3k rpm and holding it there.)

I just want to be in the ball park before I go out driving.

Idle is set at 14.3 then when pushing the throttle holding it at 3k rpm the afr moves up to 18.

Well, it give you an idea, but generally, it will be different under load at 3k.

If it really is 18 when you drive it that would be quite high. very sluggish

Things are always different under load and you don't want 18 while nailing it either. Kinda doubt you'd see that though since you'd have to be jetted way down to get that. Take it for a short ride and see what it reads. Jettng without an AFR gauge used to be the only way to do it in the 'old' days lol

NO you can't read it in the garage. Take it for a drive.

But I will say that if your getting 18:1 that is dangerously lean. I don't even know how you could Rev it at that AF. Does it even Rev smoothly ?

If anything it should be going rich. When I Rev mine I get blip to about 11:1 and then evens out when back to idle.

Out on the road it cruises at 14.5 @ 2600 rpm .
