1966 Plymouth Satellite HP2

Well sounds like Fran and Bill also have a passenger door that the trim sits wrong, sounds like someone that had one job continually got it wrong. Can't believe that nobody would correct it over time and kept sending out cars with misaligned belt line trim. My car was built on Dec 15th in 1965.
What plant was it built.

What the OEM clips look like after 40 years of Kansas sun. Maybe this gives you an idea of how to recreate one.

Those are certainly different than what I just ordered as '66 Sat upper door trim clips... in case I pull and break some.

I have found that the passenger side door holes are drilled almost 3/16ths of an inch further inboard than the drivers side, so if I want it to look correct I'm going to have to either move holes or modify clips. Not gonna happen anytime soon..

Looks like Fran's passenger trim has the exact same disease as mine.

This is a blurry picture but these are what I used. Matched what was on the car. Two little tabs go on bottom side. The metal bolt and sheet metal nut are for the end positions but I’m not sure how true to originals they are.

Look at rear of door. Quarter trim is higher.

They are mass produced cars!!! Not always perfect. My 64 pass side door trim is damn near 1/4 " off from the the fender. From New.
Looks weird but only original once

Russ Ty Plymouth's black trim mounts are correct. I you fitted those metal clips to the inside of the trim should work. Turn the tips down to pull trim tight. picture was posted here a couple of years ago by another member, he was looking for some.

Are those just the end clips Fran or do you believe they were used for all the clips, full length? I didn’t find any like that and some of mine had been painted over before. But they may have all been replaced in an earlier life.

Those are for ends but there maybe one piece that uses only one. The opposite side trim doesn't use one either. 10 of them per car, I could be wrong maybe 12.Tried to order them 1980ish none available.

Trunk mat out and considering it's probably original it's in damn good shape with a few tears off the cut outs.

Cover board in nice shape, wing nut incorrect and a homemade threaded rod

Hook and base are there!

Amazing find. Incorrect tire to be original to the car, but a never used, still nice pliable rubber, Polyglas F70-14 Goodyear.

Date code is 10th week of either '75, '85 or '95. Who knows, but they weren't introduced until 1967.

That trunk pan is 100% original. I don't know a shop with a spot welder that will reach or make them perfect welds.

I'd say the early days saw an electric fuel pump feeding the Hemi.

Quick solution to plug them up.

How's that for clean and rust free. It's obviously been painted in there, but on the original clean metal.

Some heavy duty clear tarp tape on the mat cracks.

A tad stained, but adds character.

Hook and base are correct for the jack, but the wing nut is wrong.
1966plysathp2part5 049.jpg

Not sure where I got it, but amazingly I have a correct OE wing nut in my spares. EDIT: I'm thinking that this is wrong. Maybe the flatter one is supposed to be used to hold the jack pieces and tire down, then the hardboard and cup on top, then a small wing nut that fits the confines of the cup.
1966plysathp2part5 052.jpg

Now is that's the way it's supposed to fit??? Now I can cut down that homemade retainer rod until I can source the correct one. Or was the flat nut correct to hold everything, then the hardboard cover, cup and a small wing nut??

Most 66 Hemi cars Ive seen have the small round chrome breather cap with no nipple. BUT Ive seen a few that just have the small round black breather.

It so then the nipple on the air cleaner has a plastic cap on it

UNLESS
they are CA emissions cars. then they get the hose from the cap to the breather

My nipple is showing in this pic. :D

Yes, the front fender pieces I believe use just one - at the rear.

On mine its drivers side.
the pass side is near but not quite perfect in line. Maybe 1/8" off but its on both ends and inward on the door on both ends .
But not enough I plan to try to correct it

ps, My 67 Coronet still has All its OEM spare tire hold down hardware including the original spare tire and wheel
