I have always preferred the 69 500 to the Daytona's/Superbirds.
I am also sure I am very much in the minority!

I bought it for it's rarity way back in 1990, not for it's looks. So far it seemed like a good Blue chip choice...I have always preferred the 69 500 to the Daytona's/Superbirds.

Maybe.... but I want one anyway!Sorry but this just looks like a high school project gone awry. Blue wheels included.

Was that done by Ring brothers?I agree that Matadors are ugly. But i saw this one in person.

It's not ugly; it's an "acquired taste".
Neat gauge package if you have a co-pilot.I like that Mercury. The taillights look great, and it has one of the neatest gauge packages of the era.View attachment 1279189View attachment 1279190View attachment 1279191View attachment 1279192View attachment 1279194
I’d buy one of these if I could get a good deal. They’re cartoonish in a good way. No longer cheap, like everything else. Two coming up for sale at Mecum Indy.Sorry but this just looks like a high school project gone awry. Blue wheels included.

If Im not mistakin the Montego MX took that look right after those Spoilers. There's that "muscle car" term again.
Dang marketing people.
Anyway, the 1970 Mercury Spoiler in the OP is a
B-O-A-T and ugly to boot. I wouldn't rank it as a muscle car.
As far as American sports cars go, Corvettes after 1973 are unappealing except for the last year of C7. I like the C8...guess I'm a weirdo; but I do remind myself daily it's a GM critter and so I'll stay away.
Going to add another disagree. In the EraSorry but this just looks like a high school project gone awry. Blue wheels included.
