Grandkids over to spend Saturday night. They both like a ‘kerslop’ drink. What is it? Half orange soda & half root beer. Looks like muddy river water. Used to get it at local A&W. The wife and I would go years later and watch the carhop say “what “(?). I’d tell her the owner will know. He always looked up to see which car was asking for it! Similar stories??????

Used to love the A&W root beer freezes, and the orange freezes. Never thought to mix em tho.....
Looks like the A&W locations are gonna close. Can't say I'm surprised, I have no idea where the nearest one is.

Now I want one.. We have a A&W here just up the road a mile or so.Haven't been there in ages. Looks like I'll be going !

Never 'axed' for that but have asked for other stuff where the shop owner looked up knowing who was asking for it.

U won’t regret it, maybe a different name though? This was about 2mi north of the Summit mothership.

As kids, our family typically manned the Little League concession stand for the local league
while we boys all played up through the seasons.
When we didn't have practice or a game, we were expected to help with concessions...

The standard Coke fountain in those days had Coke, Fanta Orange, Root Beer and Sprite choices.
Of course, we kids almost immediately started experimenting with "mixed drinks"....
I liked all the drinks together and soon, word spread about my "suicide" soda concoction.
At least, that's what they started calling it.

Has anyone ever found a liquor that mixes with Root Beer and NOT taste like medicine? Asking for a friend.

Reminds me - Yager always tasted like a cough syrup I remember from childhood.
I wanna say "Creomulsion" ?

Our old Rexal. Drug store still had a soda fountain up to the mid 70s..
I do miss hand mixed cokes and green rivers.
Root beer floats , damn good.

I have listened to all the hype about Root-beer over the years....even tried Sarsaparilla made by Schweppes here in the 70's.....and I can honestly say it tastes worse than cough syrup......to me anyway.

As an apprentice, I was loaned out to the local Coca Cola plant for a month.....I found a dozen cans of Sarsaparilla....for my old school friend. They were left over as part of a short-run for a Staff picnic a year earlier. He loved it .....had been out of production around 10 years at the time. I was happy to help him out, but didn't touch the stuff myself.

Good root beer is actually quite tasty. Bad root beer is....usually a Coca Cola or "store brand" product. :)

Tried one in Maine (on the menu at a Hancock bbq joint called Mainly Meat). Wasn't impressed by it but the bbq was kickin'!
IIRC, they called it a "milkless milkshake".

I like "Dad's" Root Beer in the brown glass bottle. Or Stewart's Root Beer.
