Rich Strike wins the Kentucky Derby…what a run in the final turn!

Never been a horse person or cared anything about horses, just horsepower for me, but , I do try and watch the three big horse races each year. Pretty exiting 2 minutes for me. But, yes, to watch that huge underdog horse run like a raped ape was awesome. A horse that can turn on that kind of speed at the end has some truly remarkable stamina ...

Crazy the way that horse came from the back to win.
Myself, I like dog races , nobody is riding the dog........:D

Rich Strike won $1.8 million for that race. The present owners got him this past Oct. for $30k after a claim race. Pretty good investment, I'd say.

I enjoyed that race immensely. My mother was a horse person, it was Tennessee walking horses for her. I was riding at the age of 4, but lost interest in my teens. Cars and horse power took their place. That horse and the munerving to come from that far back to win was incredible.

Like a Hellcat running down the normally aspirated on the long end!

Coming around turn 4 the jockey was barely asking the horse. That damned horse still had a lot more energy to go. They were barely able to keep him under control on the cool-down lap. He'll be the one to watch at the Belmont.

That finish was something,
came from the mid-rear of the pack from the far gate
to the rail-ish & hit passing gear, weaving thru &
he was hauling ***, passing them like nothing,
especially for an 80:1 longshot/last min. entry alternate
$50k to enter

Horse, handlers could hardly settle him down after
he was giving the lead horse & rider a bad time
grabbing/tugging & bitting the other horse's reins
all the way into the winner's circle

spirited to say the least, great finish

Used to be fun betting on the dogs and horses with the seldom nice win. There was a time I liked gambling including the casinos. Fortunately, not overly stupid as I’d keep track of how much I was losing. But, my spending cash for the week was usually toasted and the occasional withdrawals at the money machine. I would joke around that the only ‘machines’ paying out were the bank cash machines. Ended gambling some years ago and have zero interest in it now. Thinking back to the poor souls without a pot to piss in at casinos around welfare check or SS time was hard to watch. Might sound racist; but with all the Indian casinos around where I live, I’ve joked that they’ve found another way to scalp people. When I’ve read about their profit margins it’s friggin sick. Only other consistent winner is da government. The cash we have available to dump, including lotto tickets, is the money we have after tax. Pisses me off enough to choose not to partake..

That was a very impressive kick down the stretch. I hope he wasn't roid raging? (Looking at him after the run.) LOL. But I think that's a human response to steroids. He just got winning in that small brain of his. And nothing was going to stop him. That was a horse with an extra gear.
