1966 Plymouth Satellite HP2

I like those under dash gages - they look a little nicer than the AutoMeter ones I used. They look like they could 2-5/8” ones.

I'm not generally a fan of aftermarket gauge clutter, but these ones in Chrome blend in nice and almost look like they'd have come with the car.

Surprised by the Purolator truck coming up the laneway today... he actually stopped 100 feet short of the house so he didn't dust cloud my car wash and walked me up a box. Thought to myself wtf is this, I have nothing coming Purolator, but much to my surprise it was my NOS tail light lenses from Tony. Amazing service, I can give him that! I bought them on Ebag last week and they went to Kentucky first to Pitney Bowes distribution before coming to me!

So great having members "watch out for me" and help me spend my money!! Thanks @Richard Cranium for PM'ng me this morning on these NOS emblems and, Mark, he even took $100US less for them to boot! One of mine has a broken off mount post, so I figured why not...

I've made other cars correct, no point in treating this one any different.

Correct "small rivet" radiator cap, 16 psi and US dollars...
1966plysathp2pt6 006.jpg

New correct speedometer cable. The one on the car was routed wrong and cooked on the exhaust manifold. Not sure how it even still works as the housing is cooked right to the cable, but speedo runs smooth
1966plysathp2pt6 007.jpg

Two model years only, has a threaded speedometer end vs clip on like all the other years. This part # comes complete with the firewall grommet installed.
1966plysathp2pt6 008.jpg

Typical car missing it's upper control arm, rear, alignment access hole shields.
1966plysathp2pt6 009.jpg

Car is also missing its speedometer cable to frame clip.
1966plysathp2pt6 010.jpg

Cable clip, same one is also used on Daytona's and Superbirds to hold the lower rubber nose shield in place.
1966plysathp2pt6 011.jpg

Correct positive battery/starter cable. The one on the car has been cut and has a clamp on battery terminal end. Like many it got cooked off at some point in time.
1966plysathp2pt6 013.jpg

Thought they sent a cable for an automatic at first with the trans switch cable being there, but then sorted out it's just the way the factory made the assembly. Reverse light switch and oil pressure sender wire bundled in with the starter cable.
1966plysathp2pt6 018.jpg

Grey for oil pressure and the blue/violet for reverse switch. They go into a 3 wire connector along the drivers inner fender.

New correct 90* cable end negative cable.
1966plysathp2pt6 016.jpg

Glad I bought these NOS HP2 emblems. Thought the ones on the car had faded from black to greyish... but that is the way they are supposed to be. One on the car has a broken mounting lug, so one will get swapped out and one stashed in the safe.

Bought the last trim clip kit listed on Ebay, just in case I pull the belt line stainless to polish and fix some dents. I know the old clips will break.

Another look at the trim clip kit.

Car was missing both lower trunk extension drain plugs, where the mice love to climb in. Forum Buddy Ian out in Saskatchewan mailed me two from his '67 Charger and a couple of spare tire well larger plugs as the car is missing one of them as well.... won't tell me what I owe him either! Thanks again Ian @440 4 speed

New, correct, negative battery cable ready to install. You can see the crappy bolt on positive battery cable end and make shift cable in the picture.

New correct radiator cap installed.
1966plysathp2pt6 039.jpg

Correct negative battery cable installed to front of cylinder head and battery.

I knew I'd seen this style cable end before... in the '76 backhoe... and John Deere just may be a cheaper source than the car restoration supply house. That 20" long negative cable in the previous picture was $85 US !

Looks good, Wayne.

Mine had that same crappy bolt on end on the positive and a frayed negative cable when I got it.

I also replaced both.

I’ve had a new radiator cap on backorder from YearOne since last December. Guess it’s time to give up on the crappy company and look elsewhere.

That's not a correct cable for a 1966. For 1966 the thinner wire at the terminal should be black.
See 64BEL's photo.

Would a 67 harness fit a 66 with the fender mounted relay panel? If it needs to be black I would lightly spray it with SEM vinyl paint and call it a day.

I would be interested in where the speedometer cable clamp is located. I think I’m missing that.

Looks like you have several hours of work ahead - enjoy.

Thanks! I think.... One year specific, $235 and they can't get that correct!! I'll be sending Jamie an email...

Richard had input into getting them made about 2 years ago. Available from him at restorationpartsandmaterials.com or from Jamie at Megaparts.

Guess I'll run it through a tray of my black dip rubber and call it done.

Clip on my '69 Bee..

It’s red on my reproduction cable set too. Guess I’ll spray it sometimes although the quest for originality on my car that’s not too original gets kind of questionable after awhile.

Thanks for the details above.

I thought rubber/vinyl trim paint would be the way to go. Looks good. Now just hope some wag doesn’t come along and say black is incorrect and red was original.:)

I got my cables from Frank Badalson, so I'm figuring black is correct.

Plates showed up while I was away. So a trip to the licence bureau today to get them registered to the car....

Wayne , you put any miles on that weapon yet? I'd likely have the planes sniffing around trying to find some gas by now!
