When Do You Wake UP?

Was born around 5:30AM and that’s usually when I wake up or get out of bed more often than not. Doesn’t matter what time I drop off the night before; but also sleep like crap. Unlike my young years, most productive time is mornings. My wife on the other hand hates mornings so I’m up a few hours before she is. She gets perky later doing stuff and nope I’m not going to start doing stuff after my clock is winding down. Lemme know what you want done and I’ll do it….in the morning. Lol

I get up 5-5:30am pretty much every day with or without the alarm clock. Been doing that almost 45 yrs. If I'm in bed past 6, I'm probably either sick or dead.

I'm up a little before 3:00 every morning, no alarm clock, gives me time to get showered and ready for work, quick breakfast, and get to work around 4:00. Because I'm up at that time M-F, I wake up at that time on weekends too. I don't remember what time I was born; I was too young at the time.

3:30 so I can make to work at 6, it takes 10 minutes to get there. Today was rough, watched my hockey team lose in the playoffs, was up till midnight. I'm staining doors now and will be back at it probably 6 tomorrow. But I have Busch Lattes to keep me awake.

430 on workdays. But 430 on non workdays too.
Being in Phoenix and summer is turning on now, need to get up early to get anything done outside. Any car stuff ends about 10.

Varies greatly.... It takes me weeks if not months to train my body to sleep in a little.. When I'm on the road I usually need to be in plant by 0600, sometimes earlier, sometimes later, depends on the facility... Earlier this week I was in a plant in Austin Tx that wanted me on the floor by 0400, which means up by no later than 0300... Which sucks bad enough but the fact it's in Texas & I'm from California means I was up not later than 0100 my time.... It'll take awhile to fix my sleep schedule... Accept I'll be back down there in 10 days for another four days.... Then home for a couple weeks & back down there again for two weeks in plant... Home for a month & back for another week.... I may never fix my sleep schedule again....

And having said all that it's currently about 1900 hrs AKA 7:30 PM & I'm falling asleep cause I was up at 0100....

I am usually up at around 5:30-6:00am .....gives me time for breakfast & shower, and a little time to cruise the pages here before driving to work. Sometimes I don't have time to drop in here....but it has become a habit. :D

Weekends, I have trouble staying in bed too long....normally up and out by 8:00am. Chores don't get done by themselves.

I get up in the wee hours, usually anywhere from 1-3am regular as rain these days.
No need for an alarm clock.
Been that way since April 11, 2013 (some of you know why that day matters to me).
I don't know why, really... It's not that I'm afraid or anything.
Playing amateur psychologist, I think it's more that I subconsciously want to be awake
every possible hour I can, since I've spent more than my share of time not breathing...

It's not that I'm doing anything useful or helpful for anyone at those hours; it's just that
I prefer awake to asleep (and the dreams that come with it), more like.
All I know is it never changes, no matter my level of tiredness or illness - I just don't
sleep much anymore.

Years ago a miscreant broke into my garage
and attempted to steal my Jeep. When
confronted (my dogs' soft growls woke me up),
the guy jumped from the front seat, screw
driver in hand. He froze almost instantly
after noticing the Reuger Black Hawk. My
dog had worked his way behind the guy,
jumped up and bit him in the ***, ripping
the rear pocket off his pants. I can't remember
if I yelled, or used a calm voice ordering him
to the floor. Felt like I was going to have a
heart attack, adrenalin levels extremely high.
Since that incident, any and all 'bumps' in
the night send me into fully awake mode
until I can figure out what woke me up.
Can't hardly sleep at all on windy nights.
Getting up time depends on how many
'bumps' wake me up.
That loyal and faithful dog is gone now,
and has been replaced with one equally as
protective.

Thank you all for your input. As I age and seem to not sleep as well due to various health issues such as acid reflux or waking up with joint pains or illness. I am sure every one can agree that if you don't get enough recuperative down time it can really ruin your day. I still can recall an incident more than 30 years ago when my kids were very young. One of them screamed from a nightmare or something and I got up as fast as I could. However, my left leg had fallen asleep as well as my arm and as my feet hit the floor I started to fall over & tried to catch myself with my numb arm on the table next to the bed. Well, I broke the table and the alarm clock and the crash scared all of us awake. I also recall the dog needing to go out at around 3 in the morning and came running back in from being sprayed by a skunk! That was the end of blissful sheep counting that night. Especially because the dog ran immediately under the bed wiping his horrible stench not only on the rug but also the cloth bottom of the box spring as well! Sleep being vital to existence and that all being considered; I think it is my favorite thing to do. I live by the statement I stole from an unknown source way back when, that is at the bottom of all my posts: Be all you can be "Dream! " That and second to sleeping :: (Whoever invented rest really knew what he was doing!) Which I believe came from an old funny papers comic strip called "Motley's Crew" above the caption there was a picture of the guy snoozing in a hammock! On that note, Good Night to All and Pleasant Dreams;;; unless of course you are working the graveyard shift like I am this week, lol!

Ok, the skunk under the bed story wins @multimopes !

For 40+ years I got up @4:30, never an alarm clock. Now that I'm retired that has vastly changed - it's now 4:32 am. How long is it going to take to get to 5am? I would love to stay up later, but I just can't. By the time 9:30pm hits, its lights out.

Edit; I was born in time for dinner. I don't think I've missed one since.

I woke up at 4:20 every day from age 29 to 52. In a 31 day month, I averaged about 28 days at work. I worked between 8 and 12 hours a day and as many as 4 months in a row of 7, 12's. Did I take time off for the family, absolutely, other than that, off to work. To get more time with the family, I usually went to bed around 11 or 12, that was my life. I still go to bed around midnight and never sleep pass 5, 5:30 and get up once to pee around 3. Other than my wife and doctor, I have never said this out loud, I dream every night about my old job and don't know why, it's been 14 years since I was there. They range from driving around the plant in my electric cart, to being stuck in the plant and can't find my way out, tell me that not jacked up! I was born around 7 at night. @multimopes, My brother- in- law was a
Stationary Engineer and like you, he didn't know if he was coming or going sometimes!! Those hours are hard on a body!!

During summers while in tech school got a job at the American Can Co. My dad worked there his whole career starting out as a T&D apprentice in 1935. Worked the 2nd shift and worked every day, Sundays & holidays included. Those were lost summers as all my buds worked 1st shift. Hated working that shift with nothing but work. I’d sleep in late getting home around 1AM watching reruns on TV until the tube went blank for the night (no 24 hour TV then). But, the money was fantastic plus not spending it going to bars and parties. Some of the co-workers were school teachers making great money during summer recess. One quit his teaching job to work there FT cuz the money was better..

up 4:30AM every morning M-F. Work hours are 5:00AM - 3:00PM.

You're up at 4:30, you ****, shower, shave, and eat breakfast and commute to work all by 5am?? Your commute must be from the coffee pot to your office chair, must be nice?
