I am thinking about replacing the manual steering box in my 69 GTX. It has a lot of slop in the box. Trying to decide between a rebuilt unit from Firm Feel and a new production unit from PST. The unit from PST is less expensive. Any opinions?

I was in same situation, decided on PST manual 12to 1 box , iircly, tires are 225 x60x15 , steering at slow speed is a bummer! But product , seems good , just my mistake buying this box , for that reason!

You try adjusting that screw in the top of the box yet??? Took all the slop out of two of mine that way, no play in the wheel what so ever in the Dart. How about your steering arm or pitman arm, those checked for slop... or loose bolts holding the box to the K frame!

All of the slop is in the box. Have not tried any adjustment.

That screw on top of the box is really not meant to be the adjustment to take out the slop, but it will help a bit. Just don't go to far as it can create binding at full lock. I have a 16:1 PST on my Duster, a 20:1 PST on my RR, and an original 24:1 rebuilt by Steer and Gear on my Bee. I have no complaints whatsoever with the PST manual boxes.

There is an adjuster on end of box where column connects.

There is a local shop in my area that rebuilds them for about 1/3
the price.

16:1, not 12:1.

Thank you my mistake. I made the correction
