Damn. 4.5 give or take.

How often does that happen ? What about the damages to everything around you all ?

We drove through OK on Friday watching radar and dodging around various routes to miss the storms. Fortunately we were successful and avoided the, but we got caught in the traffic mess in Sand Spring where the big hydra-formed steel road sign frame got tagged by a trailer dump rolling down the highway with his trailer raised up in the air. It fell across the east bound lanes shutting that whole side of the highway for hours. Our west side was just delayed by all the gawkers.

Thats a big one. Ive seen some a tad smaller west of Lethbridge. A couple years ago here. 2” dia hail stones beat the crap out of everything.

A guy I knew lost his restored 1969 GTX to hail like that in Nebraska. It was inside of a garage. He said it was a total loss, beyond repair. I asked: "really?" It was hard to imagine that beautiful car was gone.

A couple years later, I was talking to my Honey supplier who is from the same area and he said: "Yeah, they were as big as soft balls. We had to get new kitchen appliances, cupboards, and furniture, the stones came straight through the roof and ruined everything in the house."

I got caught in a hail storm in Eastern Colorado on 76. The hail wasn't very big but the sheer volume that hit us absolutely destroyed my Kenworth. There was so much they brought out snow plows to remove it.

Wow, would get killed with hail that large! Geezuz hey! Had two encounters with hail around ping-pong ball size…actually not quite that large doing major damage. My wife’s car required a new hood and deck lid. My Ram, being around 12 years old then…it was totaled by the insurer. Also needed a new roof. Another occasion I was driving my new company ride on the interstate when BAM-BAM hail started raining down. Scared the bee Jesus out of me driving 70MPH. Pulled off to the shoulder until it stopped. When I got to the field office I was driving to, got out and it looked like someone took a ball-peen hammer to it all. Chit car had all of 200 miles on it. BUT, with the OP…what da hell with hail that large? What can survive it?

If you get hit? Nothing.

Reminds me of the old song “Oklahoma…where the wind and hail can kill your ***…” well something like that, lol
