We had a good one today. 8 hours later and our electricity is still out. These photos taken within a couple blocks of my house. No damage at my place but I am worried about our freezers. We have 2 fridges and 4 freezers (for 3 people)

My wife likes to prepare for the zombie apocalypse. It would seem that not having a back up generator is a flaw in the plan.

You probably know already, but don't open the freezers

Hopefully, power has been restored by now. But if not, throw as many bags of ice in the freezers as they'll hold. And, YES... get a generator.

What the heck do you have in 2 refrigerators and 4 freezers for three? Asking for a friend.

You should consider freeze-dried food for long-term storage. It saves on freezer space and lasts for years. Companies like My Patriot Supply, Mountain House and Wise sell it. It ain't cheap, but when the **** hits the fan it's good to know you're prepared.
Your wife is right - whether it's zombies, natural disasters, or a government that goes rogue - get yourself ready!

My wife is a foodie. And a busy lawyer. She substitutes time for abundance. It drives me crazy but after nearly 29 years I know what battles to pick and this isn’t it. So we have a fish freezer, a chicken freezer, an upright freezer and another chest freezer.
