Really sorry to see that ****! Lets hope karma catches up to whoever! ruffcut

Do you park facing the street or road?

Crap, sorry to see that.

Had to have been kids they smashed it out and then left that tow strap on the trunk. What would be the best route to go about finding a replacement. Its a 72 newport

Is that strap what it was done with? If so report it, don't touch it, and insist it be finger printed.

I might report it but it aint going to get me anywhere. Last time i called the police station around here they straight up said they didnt care to deal with it. Seems like theres a shooting in this city every week nowadays. I guess they have their hands full.

What’s the chances that strap came off of a vehicle passing by and hit the windshield and went across the roof and landed on the trunk? Just a thought

None. It goes all the way through glass all inside the car. It was hit hard. Ive had a windshield shot out in my driveway before and im in a "nice" part of town.

I forget you are in a different part of this country. In Alabama the police still try to serve and protect.

Yeah i had it parked across the street im checking with my neighbors but nobody seems to have a camera facing this way.
My bets are it was hanging off a passing truck or trailer. Whipping in the air and it was slung off lake a catapult. The force hit the windshield then it glanced off over the top to the trunk. The soft windshield absorbed most of the force.

Youve definitely never been to Sacramento!
Your right, but I've been to San Jose twice in 2012. Flew in and drove back with a friend to pick up 4 Mercedes Sprinter custom vans. Two trips within 2 weeks.

Yeah maybe but i just found these at the very back of the trunk and the strap was by the rear windshield it would have had to had bounced backwards towards the front of the car again.

Nice sentiment but if the District Attorney won't prosecute violent offenders here, there is zero chance the Police will fingerprint anything. They don't take prints from recovered stolen cars.
Voting the wrong way has consequences. Even if caught, there would be zero arrests or prosecution for a "crime" of less than $950.

We’ve had dozens of those types of assaults on cars and more - and I live in a very nice part of OC. Just recently whomever walked by and smashed some 20+ windows/windshields in one quick night. It’s been happening with alarmingly and increasingly regularity. Homes robbed midday, on and on - you know the drill. But the facts are that none of this stuff happened anywhere around here until about 2 years ago. It was like flipping on a switch. The police formerly pretty good seem totally feckless. I don’t know if they’re truly overwhelmed or just don’t care anymore. I could go on but what’s the point? It’s like an aggressive cancer. It’s so incredibly sad to see this in our country today. Yes as KD said certain actions have consequences.
