They let me bring the car by appointment to do a diagnosis - I thought it was going to need a trans rebuild but thank God they found a simple problem and fixed it the same day! They offered to do that so I wouldn't have to trailer it back if I was willing to wait a few hours. They are kind of in the middle of nowhere and I said I would need to take the truck and trailer to get food. They let me barrow their Caddy Escalade so I wouldn't have to move my vehicle with the trailer set up near the shop.
By the time I got back and had something to eat, they were done! Loaded my baby up and was home by 3pm.
It was a really cool experience when I started the car, let it warm up and backed it out, everyone from the shop was standing outside to watch. Lots of photos taken of my sweet baby.
These guys (and gals) are great! Friendly, helpful, respectful. Did a fantastic job. They appreciated the car and wanted to do a good job without the inconvenience of having to come back (hour drive and well worth it).
Had it out tonight at the local cruise in then beat the hell out of it!

Very cool . . . Thanks for sharing . . . Always great to hear nice things about some of the great people that help us with our cars!

It's Always Great when a plan comes together ! Enjoy the moment, and that Awesome looking Charger !!!

At least one young man came by and said that is his dream car. One of them also said to his girl friend: guess how much that car is worth give or take $50K. I try not to think about this stuff because it makes me think: what if something happened to it? Which makes me reluctant to drive it. I have taken it all over KY and have had a blast. These photos don't do it justice. I have gone to car shows and had crowds follow me onto a show field. Then they just stare at it in awe. Praise God for the Dodge designers that made this car possible.

I haven't been driving this car because of transmission problems and am just very happy it was an easy $100 fix. But should I continue to drive it as much? It's not just the $$$, it's how few of these cars there are. I feel I have an obligation to make sure this car is babied and kept safe so it will live long after I'm gone. :D

I just love the color combo of that car :drinks:.

Good people at Camargo Transmission, well known and respected in Ky. As for the car, drive it and enjoy it, or someone else will! Your car, your choice. My .02 jt

What was the fix?

They have an outdoor lift and the owner sat in the car and worked the shifter while the mechanic watched. The linkage was jammed and loose and I'll show my ignorance by attempting to recall how he explained it. I was concerned the transmission was damaged and he said no because the car thought it was in the right gear.
There was also a problem with the throttle return spring and kick down linkage after years of no problem with this car. It came with a Lokar setup and Edelbrock intake that was put back to factory when I was in automotive school in 2014 and adjusted by an expert.
I won't pretend to know how the kick down linkage works, I just know it's critical to the transmission and I don't fool with it.
The mechanic told me he adjusted it to be aggressive and said he could make it even more aggressive if I wanted him to as in for drag racing. No, that car has seen the track maybe twice just for fun, not serious racing. Not taking the risk of damaging it not to mention the insurance companies won't cover damage at race tracks.
It took the guy in charge of staging a couple of minutes (a lot of cars) to finally "see" the car and ask where did I get this gorgeous vehicle.
