Frigging Bufo Toads...

Just checked the Cane Catcher trap and a BIG one was in there. He's chilling out in the freezer right now... score is 3 down and counting so far.

We don't have toads or frogs this high in elevation. Barely any bugs. We have some Garter Snakes in the summer. Back in Oklahoma when I was a kid, one of my favorite activities was shooting bullfrogs and Leopard Frogs with my BB gun. We bought a ranch down by Claremore, Oklahoma. It was a wild forested land with Indian caves and vines hanging off the trees. There was one big pond I hunted. The place was so isolated the bullfrogs grew to enormous size. Lots of Cottonmouths and Copperheads too. I feel for you. Those toads sound awful!

4 down and counting. This one I got with the pellet gun at night - head shot and lights out. Those .177 hollow point pellets do a number on 'em.

The pretty ones you can eat the legs. The ugly ones taste like nuts.

Read the article on Cane Toads linked earlier - it doesn't sound like they hibernate. If they weren't dug in the last few days of cold should cull a few of them.

Up to 5 of the bastards now... I put a dent in the population, no incidents lately...

130 and counting... warming weather is bringing them out. I had one with some attitude but he's chilling right now.

Lots of toads and tree frogs here. Lizards too of course. The snakes stay busy.
