SOLD 1969 383 engine for sale

I have a 1969 vintage 383B low deck engine for sale. Asking price is $500 or OBO. Located in Deland, FL, 32724

I have a very good reputation on FBBO and have been a member here for over 12 years.

I got this engine and a few other Mopar Big and Small blocks, (which I will also be listing soon), as a payment for some work that I did for a friend. I do not know anything about the history behind it. I do know it turns over and does not have any tight spots during revolution. I would recommend a complete teardown and rebuild to make sure it is OK.

The good:

Block casting number is 2468130-8, and the date code is cast as April 2nd, 1969, Day shift around 10 AM. I think the assembly date is April 14th, 1969.... but the numbers are hard to read on the distributor pad.

I have included a picture of the engine ID stamp pad to show these numbers located next to the distributor.

It has a two groove crankshaft pulley, which are hard to find.

It should have a set of 906 heads on it. I can verify that if you are seriously interested, and PM you some pictures.

It was likely installed in a truck, van, or motor home at some point. It still has the truck oil pan and mounts.

The bad:

The cast iron water pump housing is not correct for the 1969 engine. It was replaced sometime along the way with a passenger side outlet, which is correct from 1972 up to 1978 applications in cars. A 1969 383 engine should have a driver side water outlet here.

It has an ancient Streetmaster aluminum intake and an Edelbrock 4V carb.

I have removed the distributor for my 383 HP engine that is not for sale. The distributor was replaced with another one from a B engine to fill in the hole. The one you see here in these photos, is an old Direct Connection electronic performance unit. The one I placed back in the hole is a stock factory distributor.

There is a problem with one of the transmission bolt holes. It is cracked and would need to be welded to make the transmission bolt serviceable. The cracked part is still connected to one of the upper bolts holding it to the engine stand. It can be fixed.... or you could simply run it minus or missing the upper bolt. The bolt in question is located near the oil gallery plug behind the intake on the driver side top of the block. I can send you pictures of this if you are seriously interested.

Looks like it came out of a truck as it has Truck motor mounts and truck oil pan.

It very well could have been in a Power Wagon. But these parts look like they were installed afterwards, as the paint doesn't match. I have seen some small spots of turquoise paint breaking through in some places on the block and heads.

The passenger side water outlet is a big giveaway there. A 69 should have a driver side outlet for the lower radiator hose.

I mention these things and the oil pan and mounts in my original post. Someone has painted the motor mount brackets with Orange, where they should be Black.

I checked the throttle plates, and the secondary opening flap inside of the carburetor. Both are working well and are not bound up or sticking.
