Well,my new SV1 prosystems carbs arrived today!!I have saved up for a pair of carbs over 10 times and something ALWAYS comes up..The blower is at Gary Fontanna to be freshened up and put back on the engine. Then I can get on the engine dyno to find my 2 tune-ups.8 lbs for pump gas and 13-15 lbs of boost with c16.Then I can order up a new converter. Then put the engine back in the car. After that,I need a new helmut, jacket, pants, shoes and,,,,,,,,,,a window net and get my comp licence:eek:ccasion14::icon_cheers::happy1::upside down::wav::icon_weed::thumbsup::pimp_daddy::pixie::th_krazy::eek:s_dancing2::tread_on _me.gif:

I can see that motor is blocking your shop, so I'll be a good guy and get that out of your way for ya.

Actually,it's the centerpiece of the garage:bootyshake:This was a rough season for me having to park the car untill next year:eusa_boohoo:But I have been chipping away at the needed upgrades to acheive my goals.Maybe another 4 grand $$ and I will be ready:icon_hang:

Wow... that's one I've not seen before. Instead of gas porting a piston, that one seems to be gas vented. One large opening to allow huge amounts of compression to get behind the rings and seal them. Smart man! :::: ducking to avoid the crankshaft tossed at my head:::::

You can imagine my surprise when I took the engine apart for a quick freshen up and found THAT!!:icon_hang:So a new oversize set of Diamond pistons now fill the holes. Also had to get a new crank, used the money saved for carbs:icon_hang:So all I can do is keep chippin' away.I should be ready when the snow melts to get my NHRA licence and start chasin' my 8 second pass:icon_axe:

You may want to spend a few $$$ on the chassis Al. Super stock leaf springs get down right scary after about 9.80...It's ladder bar or four-link time if you think it will run that quick.

I have spoken to some that run the 8:50 class with cal trac mono's and rancho shocks.I don't plan on going that fast with this car,but I will test the outer limits of split mono leaf rear springs.

sweet cheeba!! that's one helluva motor...can't wait to hear what it sounds like...

Hope both of you are running trans brakes with those carbs. They must have a lot of engine RPM at the launch. They will not leave clean footbraking against the converter at 2000-2500. The only cars I have seen them work well on are Top Sportsman dragsters or very light (2200#) tube chassis door cars. They do make a stepped down version for more of a show thing but the performance suffers. A nice set of HP 950's (4150 base) would more than likely have been a better choice for that combo.

You can't go wrong with the Pro Systems carbs, they are the best in my view.
I had one of the 950s and had a problem with it after a few years. I emailed them on Sunday and got an answer back the same day.
Good people and great carbs.
Your going to love them...nice looking build thanks for the pics

WOW! Those are some wild carbs!! Which makes me wonder why not just shove the fuel line in the intake and call it done!

OK, in all seriousness, since they are going on top of a blower there may be no issues. On one hand a blower is a compressor but on the other it's a vacuum pump. That lung might be what the doctor ordered!

Poppaj,What cars have you seen with SV1's that you base your opinion?

I have some good freinds that live near us that run that run them on their Quick 16 cars (husband and wife team) She has a dragster, he has a ex-pro stock neon. Both of them run preditor headed 655's. They have tried footbraking and low rpm transbrake starts to slow the dragster down to run S/P. They would not leave clean unless they left hard off the trans brake.

Al,

If you haven't already bought the Cal Tracs I would go with ladder Bars. Were running 9.70-9.80 with Cal Tracs and they work ok but I think the car would be a lot more consistant with the ladder bars on it.

Just my opinion.
