Here is my 440 after the cam was broken in.
Summit K6400 or K6401 cam would help on that engine. INstalled the K6401 in my 440 ran good and was tame as far as " lopey" hate using that word...

Coil may be getting to hot if the ballast resistor is bad. May be casing your shutting down.
