Tell us more about your car - motor/trans.
It would likely cost way more than the increase in value. I painted my car and kept it, but don't think I would do so again. One thing I learned - most shops will quote a minimum, then once they strip the existing paint, if they find surprises they will...
I run front 11.75" disc, rear drum with a Raybestos blue iron MC, currently 1-1/8" and previously 15/16". The 1-1/8" got the pedal off the floor when braking hard. Neither MC setup provided lockup. I don't have an inline prop valve as the one I used to have had no effect. I've since bought a...
KD - man, you've got a lot of different repair topics in this thread! It took me a minute to find your last post on your brakes. I've also had some dissatisfaction with my brakes (Power Front disc, rear drum) and have done some tweaking and checking and research the past few years. I just came...
On mine, I'm running the Bouchillon cable setup and with the trans portion of the adjuster bracket full back to the firewall, it also shifts at higher mph for both 1-2 and 2-3 like that. If I move it too far forward then it shifts soft or very quick which is no good. For my cable setup it's a...
you really gave some great info there and obviously understand what you're talking about. I'm a newbie on these things and have been wondering about the effects of dialing in the correct kickdown linkage position. I'm running the Bouchillon cable setup with a Cope Racing 727 and kickdown kit and...
KD - since you're now retired and your wife can work remotely anywhere with good internet, why not inform your decision a bit more with boots on the ground for longer periods? Keep the Northern California digs intact for a few more years and pick 3-5 places that you both go to live for 3-6...
I'm from SF Bay Area but lived in Alabama for 3 yrs (not far from Tennessee). It rains the most in the summer in the Southern USA, much like the tropics. Very humid with lightning storms and rain drops as big as a house. It usually comes and goes quickly though so it's not raining all day long...
were tornadoes common then? I have some co-workers from a satellite office in St Louis and they got hit bad a few times, but not sure if it's that common compared to other areas of "tornado alley"?
I've had a lot of people who live in missouri report that they love it there...
Thanks. Yeah, I expected my mild 451 (391 RWHP, 523 Ft-lb RWT) to run much faster than 12.80 (which is still not bad for me). I think I need more practice, but the nearest track is 90 min away. I think my biggest problem is the launch since I don't want to spin the tires too much.
I weighed...
Times aren't what they used to be. I have identified no utopia within the United States that ticks all the boxes. Places I've considered myself over the past 5 years after visiting, locals told me - "you should have been here 15-20 years ago, you would have loved it - but now it sucks."...
Interesting! I'm very new to running 1/4 mile (have made about 15 passes in 5 trips over a few years).
Best time my car did was 12.80 sec at 108 mph. I've consistently run high 12's to 13.0 and mph between 103-112. Funny my fastest trap speed was not my fastest ETA. Probably makes sense to...
I hear ya - However, I have heard one other friend running a 6 speed manual 440 with EFI obtain low 20's mpg. Tuning surely involved, not just a gear reduction.
is what you actually mean to say is that the cars used to have Automatic 3 speed trans and now have 5 or 6 speed manuals? If that's the case, the MPG increase is likely real. My 727 behind the big block only gets 8 mpg.
