Ok. You may need to get a drop down base or "recessed" base for the air cleaner as it's a number s game as to when you break the air box shutting the hood...

A shaker hood is way different than an air grabber... Will you be leaving the car sit out in the rain and worried about the door leaking? Or Are you going to be driving in the rain with the air grabber door open? I don't see a big concern with using a different air cleaner...

Not to many options. I would not cut the 383 one for sure... So you can Buy a 340/440 base plate or get a fiberglass one to use... I bought this fiberglass one a few years ago when a guy did what you did and no longer needed it but it was modified it.. I asked if he would separate the original...
