Matthon, did I ever thank you for decoding my IBM card? I feel bad that I just was reading some old posts and saw your detailed repsonse. I apologize for the late thank you but "THANK YOU!"
It turned out that the one set of points was hitting the top of the hold down screw when it opened. So I grounded down the top of the screw and put it back, now I have the clearance and it does not ground out.
That is what I was looking for from someone on the forum . Thank you very much because I had my rotor pointing to the number one spark plug but my #1 spark plug was on the wrong side.
I had the number one wire on the cap just before the hold down clip on the other side facing the valve cover. You're saying the number one spark plug wire should be on the distributor cap just before the hold down clip on the front side near the radiator hoses, correct
Okay so this morning I went through everything and I was checking to see if I had spark when I opened the secondary set of points and blocked the primary points with a piece of cardboard. what I found was when the secondary set of points go to open they're hitting the set screw that's holding...
Sure that helps and I do have the copper tip pointing to #1. I was just curious about the guy saying the back side of the rotor should point to the #1 spark plug, never heard of that or seen that.
I was watching a YOUTUBE video on installing a distributor in a big block. I have a 426 Hemi, first time for me, and I had posted months ago a question on setting my dual point distributor into the engine. I understood that I was to make sure that the oil gear drive was set in with the "slot"...

Check out this photo of the yellow wires on the underside right side of my dash. I see on the wiring diagram that the yellow wires are for the right door automatic door switch, which I assume has to do with the cabin lights. A prior owner evidently appears to have spliced another wire into the...
I have bought and sold cars at Mecum. Of all the auction houses I prefer Mecum, good staff on the grounds(if you are there in person), you can request them to start the car, as many times as you like, has been my experience. Have a budget and stick to it, you will get caught up in the frenzy and...
Thanks Beekeeper, 1 Wild Rt and RJRENTON, all good observations and comments. I understand what you are all suggesting and will get back to it this weekend. I'm a weekend warrior and have my car offsite , so I can't go to my garage at home and work on it. I'll folow up next weekend.
I have no spark on one set of points in my dual point distributor, original to the 1967 Charger Hemi. I am checking all of my wiring as I have installed all new wire harness.
I brought the #1 to TDC, installed the distributor and was setting the points before I did the dwell. I have spark on...
